I have a DS system with the CM 922 case. I know that DS doesn't provide the side fan but my system doesn't have the bottom fan either. Am I suppose to have the bottom fan or does DS leave that out also.

My 922 came with three fans: top, front and back. The bottom and side are empty. DS is adding a 120mm bottom fan for $10.00 and a 200mm side fan for $15.00. That will give me three 200mm fans and two 120mm fans.
Cooler Master makes the case not DS. So Cooler Master left the empty holes. If you wasnt DS to fill them they's be happy to.
