I just wanted to let everyone know about my experience with the Fatality Sound cards. I have one that DS installed and they did a great job but the drivers from Creative suck if you are using Vista or Ubuntu. I was so unsatisfied with the Fatality sound card that I actually purchased and am using a USB external sound card for now (until Creative gets their act together and fixes those drivers...the cards have been out for over two years now!)
This has been my experience, and I would recommend everyone to avoid them. BTW, DS rocks my rig is rock solid and I love it. I am the envy of all of my friends :) |

Sorry to hear you're having those problems. I'm having absolutely zero issues with mine and have updated the driver once since I bought this rig from DS. Slapped a Bose Companion III speaker set-up on it also and it sounds wonderful.
What issues are you having with yours? |

Other than randomly dropping my internet connection, refusing to allow programs I place into the startup folder to launch at startup, asking if I know what I just did, asking if I'm *sure* I know what I just did, asking if I'm sure I'm *sure* I know what I just did, randomly closing IE7, and hogging up a disgustingly large amount of system resources, Vista runs like a top.

If you're using a BOSE Companion 3, it's via a USB connection. If this is correct, you are effectively BYPASSING your expensive Fatal1ty soundcard. In other words, if you're using Bose Companion, you're NOT using your sound card. |

Incorrect on the Bose assumption. The Companion III plugs directly into the soundcard in the back. The Companion 5 has a USB plug. That's why it's not my companion, and it didn't sound as good as the C3. |

running Logitech Z-2300 and Turtle Beach HPA2 headphones directly from my card, and again....running great. Planning on going 5.1 once I have a house to get the most from it.

sweet I just got my HAP2's in yesterday they are awesome, but after 4 hours or so my right ear starts hurting and i'm starting think its my ear instead of the headphones themself, lol. Because i've never had complete comfort for over 5 hours.. but as far as sound quality these thing are amazing and worth every dollar IMO. What is Logitech Z-2300? I already have the fatal1ty card so i expect to have an amazing experience..but just curious on what the Logi Z-2300 is and if it will increase my sound performance?

I had the Logitech Z-2300 for a brief period. I demoed the Bose Companion III desktop set-up about a month later and I quickly gave the Z-2300 to my wife and bought the Bose. The Bose completely blows the Z-2300 away for sound quality. And the Bose has excellent bass response.
Before you spend your cash on the Z-2300, go demo the Bose Companion III at a Best Buy somewhere. |

I agree that the Bose are probably better. Just about never use the Logitech Z-2300 for gameplay....love the HPA2's too much. Will definitely upgrade to a 5.1 quality set once I close on my house. Going to configure my dream room w/ my dream machine. For the $ though...Logitech Z-2300 get great reviews online and by me (for a 2.1 set)....especially with my SB X-FI Fatality.

My HPA2 Headphones hurt my ears after an hour and 1/2.. I hate it, im trying to get a refund but they are really slow in respons (Turtle Beach). Any ideas on how to make these darn things comfortable? I'm going to try stretching the ear pads larger if I can't get a refund. (The refund says customer pays shipping plus 15% restocking fee) |

Can't stop laughing dude! I think the headset is very comfortable, but then again, I don't have ears the size of an elephant. Just kidding bro. I'm sorry you're not liking them. I would send them back with earwax all over them and demand a refund. I have nothing worth any value to offer this thread, so I'm going to go home now. ![]() |

Been thinking about adding the fatality card to my system but I'm reading that it has major problems with Nvidia chipsets. What do you guys think, is there another more stable card I should be looking at.
Thanks Andy |

Andy, how and when did you read this? 2 years ago??
The Fatal1ty card is best with Nvidia chipsets. there may be a few issues with Vista here and there, but overall, you won't be disappointed.

Take it from me since I use what it has to offer...it's probably the best soundcard I have ever owned in my life. Along with a soundcard EVERY musician should have.

Bigdog, is the only "musical" aspect to the card the fact that you can plug a guitar cable into it? I use stealthplug now which is pretty amazing($100) for the price I think.
I am debating buying a fatal card now seeing how everybody has to change their pants after using it.

mmo's dont allow that kind of nonsense..for that matter neither do my fps's. maybe to get up and take a whizz and grab a soda or sumthin..but thats about it
by the way the reason they are uncomfortable is they squeeze tightly on my head.. i put them on a vase to stretchem out and it worked wonders. Edited by Cr8ton - 06 Dec 2007 at 11:00am |

hehe and if you think windows 2007 is going to be any better, you're mistaking. I have yet to have a problem with Vista 64bit, now I dunno if 32bit is worse or not but I have had more problems with XP while using a Razer keyboard then Vista. The only problem I have had with Vista was that It wouldn't Run Sim city Societies, The game sucks but the kids love it.

most new OS's for MS are going to have issues. time constraints and project deadlines will always push these to the public too soon. |

What are you guys using? I have noticed some people are having so many big "issues" with Vista, While others are not having hardly any Issues?
Do some of you Tinker around with Vista? like settings and such, because with all the darn problems you guys have had, I should have had a bunch including while using "Sequel" recording software, "Rebirth", etc etc. I am just not running into any issues that really matter.
