Hi, this is my first time building a PC and below is the configuration.  My limit is $1400

I am concerned with cooling the overclocked processor and graphics card.  I would also like feedback on my choice of a SSD for my operating system, and another hard drive for programs.  Does the monitor I selected support HDMI, and is the screen glossy or matted?  Similarly, does the PC have a HDMI port?

What are you looking to do with your rig?

I would suggest buying a monitor elsewhere, as they tend to be cheaper, especially if you subscribe to Newegg and TigerDirect's email lists. They often have sales on nice monitors.

Also, stock cooling with overclocking is a really bad idea.

The intel SSDs are the best choice.

HOWEVER: if you're looking to game, you want to be building around a upper-echelon video card, as they are the major bottleneck in gaming. If that is the case, you need to make some major revisions, most likely including dropping the SSD.

I will be gaming with this computer, but I do not need it to be top of the line.  Below is a modified build.

SSDs are great but when it comes down to it just plain unnecessary most of the time, especially with tighter budgets. Your budget is way too tight to be worrying about a SSD, a normal HDD will work just fine.

You have a horribly dismal excuse for a video card selected, you can't game on that regardless of what monitor resolution you'd be going with. Ditch the SSD and select something bigger like say the new Nvidia 460.

yea, you are building a gaming rig, and building the budget around an SSD, even dragoon can see thats a bad plan
WAY more gaming power for your money

do i need more cooling?

youre getting closer but definitely drop the noctua to the u12p, the difference between this and your choise is negligible and that money would be MUCH better spent getting a haf932 instead

will that one work on my processor?  in the parenthesis it says "compatible only with i7 processors," and I have an i5 selected.

its funny i never looked at that before.. the 655 and the 860 fit the same board.. so im not sure whats up with that lol, but you should be ok picking the u12p

if you can afford the extra money, i would also suggest upgrading to the 875K. quad cores are nice.
