Budget:
$1500

Expectations:

Usage:
college/gaming/video-editing

Special Needs:

Saved Ticket #: 851821

Specifications:
I'd like to have an only SSD laptop, because I cannot take storage for granted. It's a laptop, it will be knocked around [hopefully not] as it's a mobile device. SSDs compared to HDDs are muchhhh more stronger since there are no mofving parts, am I wrong?
Anyways, any feedback would be great. I know this rig is $1900, and my budget is $1500, so maybe there are a few tips and tricks :P

One question though. When is the 10%-off deal going to end? I want to buy the laptop before the promo ends.

852043 $1757 ($1705 w Windows 7 Premium)
- I removed the mSATA drive and upped the SSD to 240. I also opted for Windows 7 Pro as the you won't really benefit from the Ultimate version. And unless you need XP mode, you might save another $52 by just getting the Premium version. This is a nice happy medium between budget & your build.

Isn't it better to have two SSDs so the seek time would be lower?

Thanks :)

In these notebooks, the drives are being ran independently of each other (so RAID options are not available). Even if you did a RAID 0 configuration (striped), real world usage shows very minimal gain over the expense.

I'm not looking to RAID 0 anything. I just want to run an editing program using the primary drive, and then have the program read/write files onto a different separate SSD. Wouldn't that be faster than doing both tasks [running the editing application and reading writing] on one bigger SSD?
Thanks again,
Jer.

I wouldn't expect that would make much or any difference in performance. I looked at the config and actually made the exact same changes he did. ;-)

Any applications & files that are currently being used are stored in RAM. If you're working with large data files then I would look at upgrading the RAM to keep the system from constantly shifting working files back & forth from RAM to SSD.

So no mSata drive correct?
Just the 240GB SSD under "storage Drive", right?
Thanks! :)

Configuration 852143 looks good. The additional RAM will do more for you than the mSATA. Hopefully it's still within range of your budget!
