what's your goal(s) with this build?

w/o knowing your needs and just going off your build config here are some upgrades i'd recommend:

change proc from 12600K to 13600KF (KF sku just mean no onboard graphics).  motherboard changed to Asus B660M DDR4 as much more expensive Z790 isn't needed at this budget level.  dropped the PSU down from the named Corsair brand to the still modular 80 plus gold DS model 850W to save some money.  upgraded your CPU cooler to the DS rebranded CLC 240mm as you'll want to oc that unlocked proc OR if you aren't interested in overclocking, you should go with a 12400F and save money.

with my changes you come in at $2,536 ($62 lower than your build).

We can copy and paste your Config #.

Looks a lot like the build I recommended for the best parts within your $2500 budget. What's the 3080 for? You're at 1080p now, and it's more than you'll need for 1440p. The main reason I put in the 3070 was so the custom build could be compared to the Lynx 4 (which features the 3070 Ti), and stay on budget. If you're going to stay with 1080p, the 3060 Ti is the best bang-for-buck. It will provide great performance at 1080p, and isn't so expensive you want to hesitate to upgrade to a newer tech if the need arises.

I preferred the better motherboard because it fit the budget and was not much more expensive at $79. Better mobos ordinarily contribute better thermal control which is a good thing. It's a full-size ATX board; I'm not a big fan of micro-ATX. Among other better features, it comes with 3 rather than 2 M.2 slots for NVMe SSD storage.

The Corsair PSU recommended is for the 5-year factory warranty. IMHO, the DS branded one is fine with the 2-year warranty upgrade being offered, if it doesn't matter.

I think your build is fine, except for the questionable GPU pick. I still think the Lynx 4 represents a great value for the price in spite of a few compromises.

I’ll be honest. As a novice when it comes to part picking I’m taking in all the great information everyone is providing and it’s causing paralysis by analysis. Which in turn makes me second guess my choices. Probably like many I don’t want to overspend but I want to invest in a machine that will run the newest games and last like my Vanquish II that has served me well for the past 8 years.

In the end I just need to rely on the experts here.
Thanks again for all the information.

if you want something you can grow with/upgrade down the line, i'd steer clear of the End of Line (Intel) Raptor Lake platform and look at the (AMD) AM5 offerings.
