I know for 100% fact it is delayed.. It was schedules to launch in November, as Nvidia promised, that is when they had a press conference holding a "working Fermi" card, and is was a fake, held together with wood screws.
Nvidia's word means nothing, remember that. Because they have zero control as to when the card is released. They do not make the GPU chips, so they are helpless until TSMC can get them the chips..
As of right now March looks like a fairly solid release date, but if the new silicon fails like the last few did, it could be May, or later
You will know when it is about 30 days from launch, because testers will be given them then.

I love that pic.. makes me almost never want to buy a Nvidia card ever again.... said it was a working card and it was held together with wood screws...They will have a working Fermi, but from what I understand it will have A3 silicon, not A4 like the production models.. so still kind of Fermi, kinda of not.

Wow ..I am Surprised you agree with me....the guru's on
the form, DST4ME and justin "shot-me-down" on the idea........
I would love to revisit the idea with you and get more input.
I really think it would help with the winter doldrums and possibly hype up
Digital Storm Systems....might even help with sales as a marketing tool...
SO,,,,here was my original post:
"O.K.
It is the new year and we are waiting for Spring, which means the supposed
release of the Fermi card.
I know this may not be the best forum category to put this in but I put it here because this category seems to get the most action.
Anyway,as we know, when the Fermi card does finally come out it will be chaos in the Video Card Universe if you are trying to get one.
I would imagine only a few, high level, internal DS employees will know how many they ordered, how many they actually received and when they would let the general customer public know they are available and what the price is.
(and that is the way it should be).
I would like to propose some sort of "reservation" or "priority" list.
This list would be controlled and maintained by DS management in anyway
that they would like.
The idea would be to have customers sing up (or in a sense "line-up") for their
shot at getting the card. Sort of a "reservation queue".
In order to make sure that the list would not get out of hand, and would contain only the people who are TRULY SERIOUS about buying the card, and would
actually "put up the $$" when their name pops as the next one to receive the card; there should be some type of deposit required in order to have your name put onto the list. This would keep off all but the most interested consumers.
The deposit would be up to the DS management, but I would suggest that it has to be high enough to keep away those who are not REALLY going to buy one but not too large to scare people off or to make this seem a little too "elitist".
I know this idea may sound a little paranoid or elitist, and forgive me if you are offended with this idea. I am not trying to be a egomaniac or an elitist jerk.
I was thinking maybe a $50 or $100 deposit, which would not be refunded in cash...only as a credit towards a purchase from the DS site if the person chooses not to buy the card when his name come up as the next to purchase.
I was just sitting here in a suburb in Chicago, with a wind chill of 0 degrees,
a foot of snow on the ground, watching the Rose Bowl Parade and thinking
about my DS rig that will be arriving in 10 days or so....and how much I
was hoping I would have been able to order the Fermi card with it.
Well, that's my idea.
If it is totally loony let me know and I will slink into the dark, winter Chicago night.
If you think it might work, please post your thoughts any ideas that would improve on mine.
Finally, if this were to happen, I propose that my name would be the first on the list!!!;
AFTER ALL DS EMPLOYEES AND ALL THE FORUM MODERATORS!!!!!!!!!!!
No flame wars, please.
Cheers |

@Pilgrim,
That's a great idea! We might not have supply issues with Fermi as we have requested large allocation ahead of time.
We'll get back to our customers on this.
