Hello all, I have finally decided to go through with buying a PC from DS, but I am not the most knowledgeable when it comes to PC specs so I wanted to run this by the forum to see if there was anything that should be changed or tweaked a bit. I also included the monitors I was debating on getting since I could not choose between the two and the keyboard I planned on.
Thanks in advance -Jared Budget: The budget was around $2500 for the PC and 200/250 for the other parts. Expectations: I was expecting a fast machine that does overheat, seeing as I have problems with an overheating laptop. I wanted all around good preformance and something that I will not need to upgrade for a while, but could still upgrade if I needed to. So in other words, a PC that will last a long time. Usage: Day to day tasks, web browsing, email checking, that sort of stuff. Along with gaming. For example, Call of Duty. Also video rendering and very small scale 3D rendering and graphic design. However I think you should get rid of the Killer 2100 its generally agreed that card doesn't improve lag or latency. I changed the gtx 570 to the 670 because the the gtx 670 is better if you have the money for it, also it SLIs well. Other than you should make sure to get your free T-shirt and don't buy your accessories for DS its cheaper to order them from amazon or newegg. Edited by Vigil - 09 Aug 2012 at 8:44pm |

I think that your best bet would be the ODE level 4. It has an Ivy bridge processor and dual GTX 670s, instead of the older 2700 and a single 670.
All in all, you would get much more for your money with the ODE level 4. Edited by Orange7 - 10 Aug 2012 at 5:44am |

Hi Jared,
I think Orange7 has given you some good advise. The ODE-4 is a much better choice with more gaming power by a long shot. In my mind the ODE case is much better than the Enix, especially if you plan on working on the computer. If you want a custom build I think we can do better than the two Enix builds above unless you want to stick with the Enix. For $2499 you will be hard press to get a better computer than the ODE-4 for the money. Frank |

Alright thanks. I will check out the ODE a little more to see what I prefer. And if you guys are saying that it is easier to upgrade or add to, it is probably the better choice. Now I have never really dealt with upgrading or adding to before because this is my first major PC buy. So would it be hard to upgrade the ram and/or the power supply. On the Enix I customized, I had 16gb of ram and 1200w of power. Would I easily be able to upgrade both, or do I even need to?
Thanks a ton -Jared |

Unless you're really into video editing, rendering, etc then 16GB is all you'll need.
The 1200w psu is also overkill, unless you wanted to go tri-sli, 3x graphic cards. The 1050HX for about the same money is a better psu and comes with a 7 year warranty. Not sure the warranty on the 1200w DS , but i would guess 3 year. If you never plan on more than a single graphic card, then even the 750HX is all you'd need. Upgrading the ram, psu, etc is all fairly easy, especially if you have a larger case like was suggested. ODE 4 is probably DS's best deal for performance and the money. Awesome. I do and have done some video editing, but have never really been able to render much because of the bad comp I have now. So I guess I will find out if I need or want to upgrade the ram once I have used the computer.
