Topic: Finally! My review Posted: 30 Nov 2008 at 9:58am |
Almost 2 months ago, I was browsing Digital Storm's website and I decided to make a configuration for myself to buy at a later date. It was about $3800 and I was going to buy it around Christmas time. A day after I saved the config, I received an email from a Digital Storm employee, informing me of an offer they had at the time. If I bought the computer within the next 3 days (or so...I can't exactly remember), then I would receive a $500 discount. I couldn't believe my eyes, but I also couldn't refuse that offer, so I bought it.
Unfortunately I deleted all of the emails once I received my system, but it took about 2-3 weeks to finish EVERYTHING and for the system to get to my house. I was in Iraq and Kuwait at the time, and I only got home just a week ago which is why this review is coming out now instead of weeks ago. My dad said that the system arrived here in great condition (along with the fact that he couldn't believe how freakin' HUGE it was) and that he was really impressed. When I finally plugged it in to my brand new 24" screen, G15 keyboard and Razer Lachesis mouse, it blew me away. It flies through ANY application and games? Haha, it's not even questionable. If anyone ever asks me about computers and is thinking about buying one, I will, without hesitation, recommend Digital Storm. Thank you. I'm not sure what the OC was...also, haha, the other day when I turned it on, the mobo screen came up saying that my OC had failed...any ways I can fix this? Other than that, GREAT machine. There are 4 fans on the side.

it said your OC failed? iv never seen that . Download CPU-z from http://www.cpuid.com and see what that says. Also if your OC is giving you probems you can always save your profile , and restore defaults in your bios .
Did you put those 4 fans on the side or did DS ? |

Okay, after checking CPU-Z, it says my Core Speed is right around 2.000. Good or bad? (by the way, I tried calling DS and left a message...I'm sure I'll get it all figured out when they call back)

You might be reading the wrong clock-rate, or the program is reading the wrong sensor. Or, your cpu is simply throttling down when its not in use. Try leaving CPU-Z on and open and close a few intensive applications, does it change? What clock-rate do you see when you right click "My Computer" and select "Properties?"
Warm Regards,
Alex

Sounds like the OC didn't work. You should have around 4.0 on your OC... |

i would call DS, and have them overclock it for you.
If you want , and you cant wait, you can join us in the Digital Storm IRC chat , and someone there can help you with your OC settings , if you choose to do it that way. |
