Topic: Finally Ordered! Posted: 28 Oct 2009 at 1:24am |
Finally, after many weeks of research, multiple configuration tweaks, advice from the great people on this forum, and time spent waiting on the money to arrive, I placed my order today! Woooot!! Can't wait to get this machine. As I've stated in a couple other threads, this rig is primarily for high-end video editing. I chose Windows 7 Pro instead of Home Premium cuz I wanted the "XP Mode", considering I still use a few older programs that have served me well and I know to be stable. My budget was around $3,000 and with the bonus discounts, it came in at $2,931 so I hit my mark pretty well and got exactly what I wanted. Now begins the looooong wait for it to arrive! Here's my config:

LOL thanks! Actually it's been torture already, trying to get this thing tweaked and waiting for the money. But yeah, now that I know the order is set in place, it will be more torture! But that's the kind of torture I won't mind, and it will be worth the wait I'm sure!
Just wanted to thank everybody here again that has helped me with advice during my planning stages, you have helped immensely. I'll be sure to post a review with pics when it arrives! |

Well...3 days ago at 7:30pm my time I got the mail that my rig had entered Stage 5. So I figured by 7:30 tonight it would be 72 hours and I should be in the clear. At 6:30, with only an hour to go....I get the dreaded "delay in progress" email. NOOOOO!!! Anyway, about 15 minutes after that, I get the mail saying it is in Stage 6. Huh??? That must have been one VERY short delay LOL!!
Anyone else have that happen? I'm getting goosebumps thinking about the possibility of it maybe shipping tomorrow! |

12 gigs is because I will be doing high-end video editing, which creates monster-sized files. I've seen 8gb used on a single project before, so it will be necessary. As for the SSD.....yeah I wanted to but my budget just wouldn't allow it. Those are just stupidly expensive for so little storage space right now. Maybe by next year if the prices come down I may upgrade to that. |
