Yep, finally did it, placed my order today for my new system.
Now begins waiting for the new rig stage 1
I want to thank everyone here on the forums and at Digital Storm for helping to educate me so I could make informed decisions about what would be best. I agonized over every component, and researched for hundreds of hours before making a final selection. I'd probably still be reading instead of waiting for my new comp right now if it hadn't been for the helpful feedback.

Why not the 8800 320? $100 more now will keep you from having to buy a new card in 6 months compared to 1-2 years.

Sundowner- It came down to a choice between a better motherboard and PSU plus some other goodies, or an 8800GTS. The GPU I picked out isn't the GTS, it's the GT so it's a difference of $190. I could have gone with a stripped down system and come in within my budget, but I'd rather have a system I'll enjoy past my next GPU upgrade
I think it was Bill The Cat that pointed out that the motherboard is the biggest pain to upgrade, the other stuff can be upgraded with much less hassle. I decided he had a good point and picked the easiest thing to upgrade later to save some $$$ on.

Case: Digital Storm Twister PRO

I plan on using the system for some photo editing and graphics work as well as gaming, so little things like the media reader and lightscribe burner were nice add ons. I also allowed myself $35 worth of fluff, because the pretty light and professional wiring job were something I really liked appearance wise.
Had I gone to 1 HDD, lost the extras, moved to an LT board, I could have done an 8800GTS. I figure it's another "wow factor" to look forward to when I drop in a 9 series a few months from now.
