Well I finally am in the Position now where I can place my order within the next week.  So Ive been trying to stay away from the site cause it was driving me nuts to wait.  Well now of course I have some new ?'s.

First off; ive always been an AMD gal; but was going with Intel Quad Core because AMD just didnt have anything comparable.  But now AMD has come out with their Quad Cores and I think I would like to go in that direction; anyone out their try the AMD Quad's and how do you like it?

Also after spending the last 2 months thinking about OS's; Ive decided to elminate all thought and just go for Both; XP home & Vista (Premium or Ultimate).  Not sure which Vista I would get though.  Any Opinions?  Their is no way Im going for Vista as my only operating system; I just hear too many gamers complaining.  So I want to have both.

Still debating whether to go for 2 or 4g of memory?  Sound Card Options; was originally going for X-fi Fatality.

I am going to be hooking this system up on occasion to the Samsung 63" plasma I will be getting; if this helps with any of my above choices; dont really know alot as far as the crossover to TV; but ill learn fast.

All input will be appreciated; as im now in the countdown stage for ordering.

I have one more ?; sorry;  since you customize is it possible for you to add a Temp Control Panel in one of the front Bays; I was  thinking of something like:  I plan on getting the Ultima Case

Zalman 6 channel fan controller

Also would actually like this in one of the front bays as well:

Vantec easy swap sata HD switcher - lets you switch from one HD to Another.

Synthetic%20-%203D-Mark

That's the synthetic on the AMD quads. Actual game performance had them lower than the 6400X2's.  You will not be outperforming an Intel chip, but it looks like the AMD is certainly within the realm of acceptable performance. There's a full review of all of the Phenom chips at Tom's Hardware.

Unless you plan on running more than 8GB of RAM, Vista Premium 64 Bit should be fine. That would be my pick, since you'll already have a 32 bit OS (XP) if the need arrises.

The only significant difference performance wise between the regular X-FI and the stepup model is to that Fatal!ty kid's bank account as far as I can tell. LOL The frequency response, signal to noise ratios, pretty much everything except the breakout box and "X-RAM" are identical. The extra RAM did not produce more FPS on any test I have seen comparing the X-FI and Fatal!ty edition side by side. It is pretty and gold and has a glowy "Fatal!ty" logo though Tongue

I have the X-fi in my system now; and I love it; just wasnt sure if I want the Fatality; I actually found that review on Toms Hardware after I posted this; and from what I read and the benchmarks; it just dosent look like its coming close to the Intel Quad's.  Shame too; cause I would have gone for AMD even if the performance was a little lower; but seems they still need to do a little more work on it before Ill be going in that direction.  I feel like such a Traitor buying Intel; but dosent make sense to get top of the line Hardware and then get the AMD.

As to the additional Front Bay options I want; can you do it for me; or if you cant order the parts; can I order them and just have them sent to you while your building my computer;  I just dont really want to do any upgrades or additions myself.  This is my present to myself and Im keeping my hands & mind free.

here is what I am getting the only thing im thinking about changing is the PSU; i did alot of research on the 1000w PC Power & Cooling PSU; and the reviews were exceptional; so I may change from the recommended PSU to this upgrade; going to do a little research on the recommeded one and then Ill decide.

Shipping & Building Time: Since the Holidays are coming what are the Estimated Build Times right now?  Also I saw that it said Free Shipping; but are you still offering the Crate Shipping with your cool logo on the side; just curious not sure if im going to do that.

Check Hard OCP's review of both the PC Power and Cooling 1000W and the Thermaltake 1200W powersupplies. You might be surprised at what you find.

You'd probably be better off sending a PM  directly to either Dave, Kelly, or Alex on the special build requests and shipping time. Either that or just call DSO.

Thanks Tyler,

Yes we can special order anythign for you and put it in your system, but that will definitely add to the build time and what not.  as far as how long, I don't know.  It is impossible to speculate because it could take 34567890-987654345678 days for us to get something you had us order and then you'd be waiting till next year to get it.
