You guys out there in California must not be getting rain at all?  Over here in Minnesota we are getting storms and rain left and right.  Today though was just the perfect weather, I think it was 68 degrees here in Minnesota.
hehe, I love this state.  To much entertainment watching idiots be idiots here in Minnesota.  Yesterday I seen a crack head pass out and the cops scooped him off the sidewalk.  Yet I don't live in a bad area at all, I think he was a wonderer, we get about 1 or 2 of them a year that wonder into our neighborhood.

Well, we are in the midst of a drought. Have been for about a year now I think. So yeah, rather dry. But that's how California is. We have three seasons. Hot, Cold, and Fire.

Almost got burned out three years ago, so I don't have to worry for a while!  lol  I do have family close to the fires, though, so I'm keeping in touch.

I've been evac'd from my home since Monday. :( Good news is the wind is letting up a bit, and the humidity is on the rise.

I called my house and when the answering machine picked up I knew it was still standing.

My wife's family is from that area.  Her sister lives up on a hillside and can see Qualcomm Stadium from her neighborhood.

What city are you all from?  I'm from Fallbrook/Oceanside and I heard that the whole city of  Fallbrook was evac'd.  Kinda sucks to have this happen to your state and city when your way over here in Japan.

I am aboard Camp Pendleton and last night the main commisary (grocery store) had a good size fire right behind it and was visible from my house.

There have been 3-4 fires on Camp Pen now and a few small camps have had to evac and one housing area... other than that its not too bad.

California is a geological and natural disaster... no mystery.  The state's economic and political standards are so out of whack it's pathetic.  Everyone should just mass exodus out of that armpit and blow it into the ocean and let it become an underwater reef.

Doesn't negate the fact that state is going to drop off the map.  Don't take it personally, it's just a geological fact that California is going to drop off into the ocean eventually.  Who doesn't like the look of the state and the diversity of it?  But, it's hard to make a good living with the high price of living and the taxes over there.

Lots of people selling and moving East because of the issues out there.  DS ought to setup shop in the central US.  Cost of ops would be cheaper.  My company left California years ago because of the out of whack economy and cost of operations.  We setup our 88,000 sq ft facility in Texas and have been better off for it ever since.  I might buy some land in California so I can sell it and make a killing.  That's about what it's worth to me. Seattle is a place where you can make a living and actually put something in the bank for retirement.  No state tax and the land and housing market is sound.  Although, that's not a place that I would live either.  Too far north and I don't care for the winters.

Ummm... ok... CA is not going to "fall into the ocean" that's silly...

ref. http://seismo.berkeley.edu/faq/california.html

I wont disagree that cost of living is very high and the taxes are painful.

Everywhere has its drawbacks though. central/midwest has tornados and draught, east coast (especially southeast) has hurricanes.. get north anywhere and winters get cold.

Seattle doesn't have income tax and Oregon doesn't have sales tax (which is why I bought 4 brand new cars over 3 1/2 years while I was there!)

I like CALI for all its drawbacks... But when I retire from the military in 5 years its probably going to be OR where I will head to.

Little off topic I guess...

But the fires are still burning, they are getting a better degree of control over them, and the displaced ppl are being taken care of. Thats one thing CA is good at... they can do well in disaster times.. (lots of practice)

The Earth is a disaster! When are we humans finally going to get out of the back woods of this galaxy and step up to the plate! Taxes? Shadow governments? Economic and political standards? Screw that! Let's go to Mars. Wink

I am from Poway and I was on Evac since Monday. Got home today. Thankfully the fire is going to get under control if the weather doesn't get nasty again.

Of course it's going to drop off.  The San Andreas will offer its final great belch and half that state is a few hundred miles thinner.  After that happens, we'll have a new West coast front further inland and no more fires in Aquafornia.  It's a shame one of the most beautiful states in the US is riddled with such geological issues.

I say we all go over and completely over throw the middle east and build our new United States there.  Plentiful oil to continue polluting our earth and then our government can focus on occupying China and North Korea without distractions.  Of course, we'll need to have a plan to occupy Russia eventually.

Just tongue & cheekin here. Wink

Does comprehensive cover IED's? LOL

Anyway, I agree, everywhere has problems. Flooding, hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes..... whatever it is for your area, there's bound to be something. I remember taking a course on natural disaster mitigation, and learning that snow is the largest "natural disaster" in terms of human fatality every year,  it just doesn't grab headlines because it doesn't kill or displace hundreds or thousands at a time. I live in an area with a healthy snowfall every year, but I'm not leaving my home over it.

Anyway... I hope everyone keeps themselves, their families and friends safe and finds their homes in tact.

And don't use the vallet parking in Iraq. Look what happened to ed's Hummer. Tongue

rofl, CA has high taxes?  Try living in Minnesota, we get Quad taxed here.  This place is right on the bubble to also be the worst place to start a buisness.  I live in a suburb area, they just build apartments up the road here.  The unites that are right next to the railroad tracks cost $1300 a month.  the unites that are away from the tracks cost about 1500 a month.

now we get to the taxes, my property taxes where I live at about $3,000  that just property tax, now my paycheck on top of that gets quad taxed because Minnesota sucks the big one when it comes to money.

The entire Socialist Republic of Canada laughs out loud at bigdog's complaints about taxes...LOL

It also agrees with xtro666's drunken assertion that
"west michigan never had nothing happin (sic) here ever"
which is why Hollywood is in Cali and not near Flint.

what's so funny about my complaint Cry  it was posted in a chart last year I think, within the united states Minnesota was right on the bubble.  It might have gotten better since then, but I don't see any improvement here.

What minnesota is doing now, is building up to high priced apartments and buisnesses to get the crackheads/trash out of here.  but instead, they are heading over here for no reason, as it's just as high here as in the city.  now I'm living in a high priced ghetto suburb :(.  yea, you know they tp'ed my yard?  all that fricken toilet paper EVERYWHERE.  I come to my house after a party, it was 2.30am and all of a sudden it looked like it snowed in my yard.

then I busted some weirdos in the back of my yard in the bushesShocked  I mean seriously there are hotels for that stuff, geeze.

oops, sorry hehe I am in a venting mood right nowConfused
