This is my first build and I would appreciate any recommendations and opinions you may have.
My budget: $1,700 (desktop only) $ 200 - 21"- 22" Monitor (1920 x 1080) I am interested in a computer build that will last me 5 years. I plan on playing games from Steam such as The Witcher, Portals, Rage & Hard Reset, plus some MMORPG's and web surfing. I want a computer that is quiet and has good filters, since I have a cat. This is the build I am considering: Ticket Number: 710452Thanks in advance for your help. |

Hi Shor...Welcome to the forums.
That is a real nice build. Dang good for a first time effort. The only thing I would change is the Vortex 120mm to the Vortex 240mm cooler. They would mount the cooler's 240mm rad and its two fans under the top for nice airflow. The Vortex 120mm will work fine but the 240mm is better. Your call of course. Don't forget your free t-shirt.

Hi Shor,
Unless you change to the Vortex 240 you may have to drop down to a stage 1 OC on the CPU. You should also take a look at the ODE Level 2 for $1699. Frank |

Thank you bprat22 & Frank for replying to my post.
![]() I reconfigured my build to include the Vortex 240mm cooler. The nice thing is I am still under budget, even with this addition. I currently have the Stage 1 CPU Overclock selected as part of my build. Should I change it to the Stage 2 CPU Overclock? If so, why? Thanks, Shor |

Hi Shor,
Since you have changed to the Vortex 240 then I would spend another 20 bucks for stage two OC. It really won't make a big difference. Stage one OC will be 4.2 to 4.4 and a stage two OC will be 4.4 to 4.6 or so. At least that is what most run. You might have an exceptional CPU and get up to 4.7 or 4.8. Frank |
