Topic: First DS Aventum Custom Build Posted: 07 Jan 2019 at 2:58pm |
First DS build here! Ive had an Origin PC for while now. Heard many things about DS and recently sorta browsed the forums to see whats going one. Seen alot of bad things over the holidays but also many good things. I havent ordered yet but I do want to in the coming weeks. Ive tried to do the whole email management and Alex from DS buuutt its been a few days and nothing.... something im not aware off? SO ill try the forums and wait a few days more just in case, as their Aventum looks too darn sexy to just give up on it. Here is my current build, I will upgrade it as I go. If i ordered a gpu with its water cooling how hard would it be to do
some maintenance on it? Ive heard stories putting watercooling on a gpu
can make it harder to do. 2. I read on the forum that Aventums due to their freight shipping only ship out to destinations on Fridays, is that true? 3. I see that you guys have quick disconnect, does that count for the hardline as well?
4. Does that cases already come with RGB fans (are they the standard fans?) or do we have to add that? 5. Also when it comes to hard and soft tubing, is there an easy way to
drain the fluid in for maintenance? Thanks guys Edited by jakefromstatefarm - 07 Jan 2019 at 3:04pm |

Hey that looks like a neat build and it looks like we’re both in the same boat at the minute currently pricing up our first ever ds builds.
Personally i sent a few emails off to John the sales manager from ds a few days ago and have had a few responses, they don’t reply to emails straight away, usually takes about a day or so for them to reply. Additionally I was browsing the website today looking at products and a guy called Brian a live chat rep popped up on a live chat and asked if there was anything he could help with. It was like he could read my mind that I needed help nearly haha I asked him plenty of questions and after what seemed to be well over an hour of back and fourth chatting with him I went away a lot happier nownalot of my questions and ds systems have been answered. I asked some similar questions to the live chat rep and so I can share with you that no the water cooling systems do not come with drains or anything to allow for easy emptying for maintaniance, you can get them fitted though for a small cost of you leave a note in the build comments. Personally to me if a system like the hydrolux requires annual draining and maintained then why is a drain not fitted as standard? Makes no sense. From what I gather the hardline tubing does not come with quick disconnect. The quick disconnect system looks very similar to the systems we use for attaching hydraulic implements and hoses to the back of tractors, it’s a very simple valve on the end of the hose that allows removeal of the pipe without liquid being lost. I’ve actually decided to remove the hardline tubes from my build in favour of the soft, yes they don’t look as nice but seem like the more future proof option, from what I read most systems that are damaged during shipping are usually through a leak in hardline tubes |

Hi jakefromstatefarm, There is no maintenance on lc gpu. The only maintenance is the changing of the coolant every so often. There are many opinions as to when this is to be done. If you get discoloration, algae or contamination you obviously have to change. Other than that..... Mine is 3 years old (had to drain, flush and refill to change the fittings) and is still clear as can be and temps are the same as new so... Good luck.

Thge 850W PSU is a bit more than needed, but not a biggie.
You really should get the Samsung 500GB 970 EVO for your primary drive. Nothing beats Samsung here, and it comes with 5 year warranty. DS parts have only the 1 year DS coverage. I don't recommend a video overclock without cooling on it. Aventums ship Friday only. Quick disconnects come with flex tube only. I don't have an answer about the fans. Rest of your questions seem taken care of. Good luck. BTW, Brian Benoit has been here for at least 8 years, and really knows his stuff. Edited by Cretae - 08 Jan 2019 at 7:50am |

Anyone know if they shut down or something? Ive tried emails, calls since Friday and no ones picked up... or answered. Either way thanks guys, but i think imma go with a different custom PC site as lately it seems DS needs to just get their stuff together.

CES is running this week, and I would guess many key employees are there with the rest of the industry.

Tell me about having to change the fittings. Why would you need to change a fitting when you flush and refill? Are these easy to change out? |

@ ThePinkGoat: Sorry if I wasn't clear. I had a few fittings that were so loose that they leaked all the time. In order to replace some of them I had to drain the system. The hardest part was draining the loop since it has no drain port. That is why we suggest that one is special ordered with the Hydrolux Pro.
