This is my first build, I was debating between Lynx and Lumos with the same specs. Just not sure if there's an advantage to the Lumos case besides spending an extra $100. I also wasn't sure if I should upgrade to CORSAIR ML120 PRO instead of using the standard chassis fan. I just need some feedback on what I have already. I skip overclocking the graphics card since that's not needed. I did select Overclock CPU - Up to 4.7GHz on All CPU Cores as it was free but not sure if it's needed. Let me know your thoughts. A bit harder to comment since we don't know what uses you have for all that high-end gear.
The Lumos case, which is a Corsair Crystal 570X, is a bit larger all around. Longer, wider, taller by an inch or two. Tempered glass all around, which has your entire system on display. Whether you prefer that or not is a matter of taste. If you prefer the Lumos, it would seem a waste not to improve the look with some upgraded chassis fans. As a personal choice, I prefer a lean and mean primary drive for OS, frequently used apps, browser, and maintenance software. Even several games will fit as well. I like the way all those annoying system scans are accomplished in seconds instead of minutes. A 512GB Samsung 970 Pro NVMe M.2 fits that description, and it's easily 5 times faster than the 860 EVO SATA SSD you picked. The mild overclock is perfectly safe, FREE, and the chip is designed for it. Assuming you know what you want to spend and why, that's all I've got. |
