hi guys, as i've mentioned in the title..this will be my first time actually trying to piece together a good? great? gaming/working pc..unfortunately i live in australia and as much as i'd like to order a piece of art/mean machine from ds..i think the shipping fees would kill me so i'd like to attempt to get parts together and build my own pc for the first time.
i just started reading reviews and all on computer components so i can say i'm a total amateur in this field but hopefully i can get lots of help from the gentlemen and ladies from this forum Budget: lets just say none for now cause i'll be working my butt off for it..
Expectations: running smoothly with all games setting on max..games like crysis 2, diablo 3, nfs, well just any games current or what's coming in the near future that i can get my hands on..at the same time i'm in architecture so i do get into cad software a lot and also 3d modeling and stuff like that..so rendering has to be included Usage: oo well..i kinda just wrote them in the expectations part Special Needs: umm..blow my mind away?
Specifications: i'll be running on a 23" screen so 1920x1080? i'm planning to add another one though in the near future but the second screen might be just for multitasking purposes Questions: i know that 2600k is a great cpu right now..but i was wondering if i should wait for the sandy bridge e to come out and also the x79 platform? regarding gpus..i may be a little be obsessed with getting the best card out there..and even sli it..so i kept thinkingg gtx 580 xD..but don't be afraid to shoot me down to save me some money hahaha
i think that's all for now..i'd like to thank you for spending your time on this post in advance..ooo and i've gotten a laptop from ds before back when i was in the states..all i have to say is they're the best in this business period..from giving the best quality products to giving the best quality service (in a good way now... ) if i have a chance to get another piece of machine from them i'd definitely go all out xD..can't wait till that day come true

actually changing the usage a bit..i think i'll be doing more rendering and all than gaming...so photoshop and all the fun programs come before gaming sadly

For apps a 6 core will be better the newest one should be out oct/nov, you may want to wait for that.

Most of those are cpu intensive not gpu intensive if I'm not mistaken.

Hey DST, I was wondering how much performance increase would I be seeing when I'm dealing with the different apps..using the 2600k vs the new 3930k that's coming out in a month or so.
I just read some news on bit-tech.com regarding the VT bug that sandy bridge-e is having trouble with..I've tried wrapping my head around that technology but I couldn't really fully comprehend what it really does in real life application when I'm using the apps and stuff..I was wondering if you could help me understand it a bit better

it has to do with virtualization, so unless you run virtual serves you got nothing to worry about.
