I will be getting a call on monday from DS for help to impove this OC. Who knows, with the temps shown here I may be able to see a 4.5 OC.
If you see an "issue" here... PLEASE let me know. I do not want to toast an Thousand $$$$ CPU. lol

I see what I did now. That first Real Temp GT is from a pratice snip. Here is the 4.0 OC after 20 runs with LinX

I'm such a noob.. that corrected Real Temp is in fact from the 4.0 OC but snipped with LinX running to show CPU is at 100% . It "IS NOT" from a full run; Not yet anyway. I'll post the finished run after LinX is done. I am sorry for any confusion. I'm old an slow, but I am also dogged an relentless. I am a Marine.

dont worry about realtemp or most other programs reporting on your clock speed, especially with a 980x, just focus on your bios and cpuz readings

A question about:
QPI Frequency Selection (Auto)
I see some people change this to 8.6
Should I do that aswell?

My windows 7 thinks the CPU is running at 3.4 so maybe this is where that number came from.
No matter. I have CPU-Z, E leet, from Nvidia; not to sure about the reports I see with that tool. I have DRAM lock in bois at 1.65 an E leet list it as 1.75
Thanks for taking a look at this. I am watching Real Temp GT like a hawk. So far, so good. High temp is 61c on 2 cores.

Real Temp will report it correct.. so do pay attention to it.. multi throttling it will catch better than Cpuz,
your QPI link speed needs to be bumped low ass performance with it set like that lol
use the BIOS voltages, they are close, E-leet reports voltages way off, or use a digital multi meter to physically measure the real voltage, like the real over clockers use..

justin.kerr,
Do I understand you correctly. I "should" change the QPI link speed from (auto) to 8.6?
Thanks

Looking at my BIOS within the "CPU Feature" the last in that menu is:
"QPI Freguence Selection"
I do not see 8.6.
Mine has (AUTO) (4.800) (5.866) or (6.400) thats it.
It is clear to me that I have no clue. So, I guess I have to wait for DS to call me.

I would try 5.6 test it, if it passes prime 95 go to 6.4 and re-run prime 95

Nice, i think you might be able to push the cpu a little more, seeing as you have LC and the intel 980 cpu
PS Intel Core i9? (on real temp GT)

I just finished running LinX 20 times with max mem and then Prime95 for 12 hours with no errors.
I think I have a stable 4.0 now so I'm setting a profile.
"QPI Freguence Selection" is set to 5.8
Vcore is at 1.40
VTT is 150
QPI PLL V core 1.2
IOH V core 1.2
29 X 139 = 4.021
HyperX 2000 MHZ Ram is running at 2:14 =1950
9
9
9
20
56
1T
I will now move "QPI Freguence Selection" to 6.4 an re-run LinX then Prime95 while I wait for DS to call to go and go over my BIOS settings looking for any noob error. Which I must say at this point is very likely.

I just finished working with DS tech Steve on this OC. I am happy with it and he agrees it is a stable OC.
I'm calling this a finished an saved profile.
Thanks to all those who helped me with this OC both within this forum and the DS tech's who all put up with my noob questions and learning curve.
DS realy does set the Gold Standard for support; Could be why this is my second system built by DS.
Now... It's time to do some gamming with this bad boy. lol
