Topic: First Time To Get A Gaming PC Posted: 12 Nov 2019 at 1:24pm |
So I have always been playing games on the Playstation systems and well I am very new to this and I am looking for a gaming pc I can go up to 2500 but would like to stay under 2000 if possible or even cheaper. I am unsure where to start and what I need to do to get started. I play mostly Farming Simulator, Stardew Valley and other RPG games. My GF loves playing the first person shooter games and some of the horror games as well. I would like the pc to run fast and smooth with video/photo editing abilities along with live streaming and basic web searching. Option for 4k and 1080p would be nice. Optional DVD/CD Player/Writer as well. I personally would love to run mods for the Farming Simulator games. Also just recommendations for a monitor or what frame rate monitors to look for in the future. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Welcome to the forum darrellv17 !
Like most folks you have some high expectations at this level budget, but the DS Sale does help get you quite a lot for very reasonable money. In a DS Lynx custom build, here is a quite strong rig that can do well with what you and the GF have in mind and uses the top I9-9900K 8 core /16 thread processor for excellent gaming and solid photo/video encoding, solid Asus Z390 Strix-H motherboard, Excellent Corsair 280mm CPU cooler, Corsair Vengeance 16 GB RGB RAM, solid gold efficiency Corsair 850w modular PSU, the best do everything well midrange NVidia RTX 2070 Super 8 GB VRAM GPU for strong 1080P or good 1440P gaming at high game settings, and a speedy 500 GB M.2 NVME SSD Drive1. You get a Free Stage 1 Overclock on the processor to boost performance nicely, Free RGB Case lights and DS RGB case fans are included. This is a lot of quite strong name branded components for a very affordable price. This rig would serve you well for a long time ahead, easy to upgrade to more RAM, more Storage drives, or eventually upgrade GPU in a few years. You mentioned possibly using 4K...if so you would want the stronger RTX 2080 Super or top RTX 2080 Ti video cards for that to work best gaming at 4K. Lynx Build1: Config # 2709317 $2,574 minus DS Sale $200 Off = $2,374 and Free Shipping See what you think, or tinker with the selections for a different config... 4k is not in your budget. IMO, it's not a worthwhile upgrade in a smallish monitor, anyway. 1440p is the way to go at typical monitor sizes, and the 2070 is the card to get.
That said, you could consider the Lynx Level 4 build. You would sacrifice the name brand parts we prefer to recommend for their longer warranties, but the DS branded parts are good quality, and the savings is substantial. It comes with the 2070. You sacrifice free shipping and can't overclock the CPU, but it's pretty stupid fast already. For a monitor, I recommend you look at 1440p (2K). An IPS panel for better color and better viewing angles. High frame rates would not be needed for your gaming. |
