Just got my Vanquish 1, and am already thinking ahead of what to do first.
Opinions on whether to add a SSD, or upgrade the video card (?). Thanks in advance

Depends on what resolution you are gaming at and what kinds of games you play.
But I'd probably lean towards a SSD if the 650 suits your needs. |

Get the biggest SSD from Newegg you can afford.

Mostly World of Tanks, which can do fairly high res graphics, but does not have high-speed movement. Plays OK right out of the box, but where's the fun in not upgrading?

Without knowing your monitor resolution it's tough to say, but it sounds like the gtx 650 is lagging a lot. The gtx 650 is an entry level card for decent gaming on a 1280x800 monitor. I suggest getting the best video card budget allows. The gtx 650ti boost is a big step up with the gtx 760 even better. Problem is the power supply would need changing to a 600watt for 760 but not for the 650ti boost.
Depends how much your willing to spend. |

Thanks for the reminder about the power supply, probably would have spaced that. My old machine has an 8800, I think, which is at least one generation old, if not 2. Sounds like the video card should be first, with the SSD as funds allow.
Thx to all. |

I always tell people an SSD is one of the biggest and most important upgrades you can do if you don't already have one.
Get the SSD, you'll be extremely pleased. |

Had the chance to play for a while, and the video card is actually holding out quite well. Could have been Windows patches downloading in the background that was causing issues. I'm thinking that perhaps getting an SSD, putting Windows and WoT on it may be the way to go. Anyone got a favorite brand of SSD?

I just recently upgraded to a SSD drive and am extremely impressed with the improvement in loading times and start up.
