Im building a $6500+ aventum x with hydrolux cpu + gpu cooling and I cant decide between hardline vs flexible tubing.
In my research, it seems that flexible tubing is more leak proof and easier to work with and service, but is this the case with digital storm and the aventum x case? I really prefer the look of hardline tubing, but if its more likely to leak and a lot harder to disconnect and flush then I’d rather stick with flexible. That said, the aventum x case has a lot of apparent design features to support DS’s hydrolux cooling system, and I assume DS uses top quality hardware, so can I expect a relatively easy to work with and reliable hardline system or is flexible tubing still the way to go in terms of reliability and ease of service? |

There is nothing magical that happens here to change your research findings. Flexibility of the tubing is the essence of "more leak proof and easier to work with". Lots of folks over the years have adapted to the more difficult materials. It's all about appearance.

Congratulations and welcome to DS. Soft tubing by its ability to flex is the easiest to work with in all matters related to the cooling and cleaning. Hardline is by far the best looking. There are different ways to make the corners with hardline (fittings vs, bends). There is no thermal advantage of one over the other to my knowledge which is very very limited. In the future when you decide to ugrade your gpu(s) to extend the life of the pc you will appreciate the soft tubing and its ability to conform to the new sizes. With hardline you will have to make new plumbing to fit. Enjoy and keep us posted. ![]() Edited by hoserator - 06 Oct 2020 at 5:07pm |
