and its for a good cause (help fight cancer and etc.)

No, they do not, but this is an *excellent* suggestion.

Worth sending a PM to Alex DST. I think he'd be interested in this idea. It's for an excellent cause, advertising or no.

Would be cool to have an option to have the folding software pre-installed right in the configurator even.

Well, the quick answer is distributed computing.  You send out a lot of parts of a problem.  Each computer works on it.  They send the results back.  To combine them, you send a portion of those parts back out and they get worked on.  They  get sent back.  You keep repeating the process until you "FOLD" the results into a single set.

Folding@Home allows medical researchers with limited resources to tap into the power of computers in people's homes to advance science and hopefully save lives. You leave your machine running, and instead of it going to sleep during periods of inactivity, it starts working on protein folding simulations. The link explains it, but this is to forward research into "Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, Huntington's, Parkinson's disease, and many Cancers and cancer-related syndromes", according to the description on Stanford's site.

For everyone that ever said "Those diseases are terrible, but what can *I* do about it?" - this is your answer. Fold at home.

Companies and overclocking clubs will often sponsor or organize "Fold@home teams". DSO builds some awesome computers, it would be great to think of some portion of them being used to find a cure for Alzheimer's or Cancer.

I'd consider defecting from the MaximumPC team if DigitalStorm had one.

well the rigs here are big boys and can handle the SMP clients.

SMP clients get more point cause they do more work but you need a good powerful PC like the ones DS makes to run them.

once we have a team I can show you all how to set it up and put DS on the map ;)

the main thing about it is that we are helping find the cures for cancer and such diseases
