First off, welcome to the forums, second, let us see your config so that you get most power for your money, third raid ssd is great (if its intel IMHO), but what is the use for the pc? in gaming loading will be faster then a single ssd but thats about it, (of course os loading and file transfer speeds are great/amazing), but in gaming a single ssd will do.
So what is the use of the pc? and tell us your build, budget and resolution if its for gaming. |

and thank you very much for the welcome ; its primarily a gaming rig , building from scratch in my head right now, going to spend about 3000 , no more than 3500 , i play WOW and some fps type games , looking for future proofing , the only real questions i have concern hard drives . i have a raid 0 on my current rig and want at least that kinda speed or better . just ordinary drives, no raptors , though i am considering those, and then there are the hybrid drives , but they have their own software for their functionality , do they mate well in raid 0 ? i don't know . i can afford a couple ssd 80's , so im thinking raid 0 , why not ? :)

A ssd will be faster then raid regular hdds, the seektime and 4k file size speeds are not even gonna be comparable.
raid 80GB, if you like it and are familiar with raid then go for it. what res you gaming at? it does not hurt to run by us what you are thinking about. worst case senario we give you some recommendations, which you are not obligated to follow. ![]() Edited by DST4ME - 18 Feb 2011 at 8:16am |

im using the ASSASSIN stage three as a starting point and have been tweaking a few things to get the the most for what i need , mostly adding to , like killer 2100 and soundblaster ... but then im hearing a lot of negativity about the case and not a good case for water cool , except maybe the HP70 from corsair , if thats the right name for it .which is kinda noisy by most accounts , so now i might need a case also ,

See I'm glad we talked, the killer 2100 is waste of your money, will not offer you anything you will notice.
what res you want to game at? I will not know what kinda gpu power you need without knowing the res. the best future proofing, is to get only what you need now, and then upgrade to a future gpu when you need it, no matter what you go with now, its not gonna be future proof, it won't support future dx, and vram wise it could fall short. |

Gotcha, for some reason right now the configarator is not working, so I can't config yet.
so you want LC on cpu, or do you want LC on gpu also? it not needed, so don't feel like you have to get it, but if you like it I can show you builds with LC on cpu/gpu and a build on air. |

just cpu , cost goes up rapidly for anything else ... my gaming room is a converted washer /dryer area in an apartment , it gets warm in here quickly , not much circulation . so heat is a concern . i just put a nice zahlman heatsink on my current rig and opened a vent on top of it by removing a disfunctional usb / headphone thingamajig and its working great now, even when girlfriend cranks up the heater to blastfurnace its running a pentium d 3.0 and an nvidia 8600

Take a look around here and you will see everybody that has one or used one (killer card), will tell you its a waste, you gain a few pings but nothing that amounts to anything, the things that will make a good difference are your isp speeds, the server distance and that servers speeds.
Again its just some info, at this forum I know who I'm taking to and those people's knowledge of how things work, I can't tell you how many-times I read BS info passed on by people that don't know what they are talking about themselves, so take what you read in other forums with a grains of salt. at the end if you like it, you like it, but search the forum and see what others are saying about it too, others that have it. ok gotcha, LC on cpu only, ok, waiting for the configurator to load so I can give you some ideas. i guess future proofing goes to the motherboard as technology allows , ... i generally just read tech reviews when im researching something .... but anyway ,duly (sp?) noted about the killer card ... hmmm other questions ? over clocking ram ? upgrade to ram 2000 ? high tech air cooling , will it be enough ? asetek LC with 240 radiator ? performance fans make that big a difference ? thanks for your attention , and im mesmerized by your pretty pictures , must have lights

you won't notice higher rams speeds in games, the cpu and gpu will give you the fps you need so anything from ram will go unnoticed, for stage 1 oc all you need is the 1600MHz DS ram, for psu tho you want to go corsair.
asetek is not real LC system, as in it will not give you performance of a read LC system, Noctua will give you the same performance and its quiet too, will a longer better track record, the corsair air cooler does great also but is a bit more noisy. upgraded fans here are loud, when I give you a test build I will go over what the case has and fan upgrades are a good idea for the case, most of cpu cooling comes from the cpu cooler and most of gpu cooling comes from the gpu's fans, but good air flow in a case will help some with gpu fan, if the airflow is not good enough. LOL thank you, ya I love lights, to be honest it was suppose to have neon colors inside/on mobo/cable connectors/psu and etc, but the neon paint did not turnout great, so I guess you could say this is the tone down version

I had raid 0 on my last system. Then 3 years into the system Warhammer online(computer game) gave me a bluescreen of death. Some reason the raid controll didnt like this bluescreen and both HD gone. I lost all the data on the HD drives and reinstalled everything this time not as raid 0.
I dont think RAID 0 for home use SSD or HD is worth the tiny bit of speed increase considering the chance for double the fail. I actually consider it triple the fail, as each HD could fail and the RAID control can fail.
I cant see the speed increase worth the hassle for me.

Don't keep anything important on the RAID 0 and then the small extra chance of data loss stops mattering.

Clone your raid to a single hdd and you can always restore from it, clone, twice a week and you won't lose much if any.
you can follow my clone guide here |

Some people here have three or four intel ssd in raid, now that is major speeds.
Be sure to go with intel for ssd. |

If you keep pc clean, there is not real junk or anything that will matter.
simple use of ccleaner and making sure you delete regkeys and files left over after an uninstall is all you need. I rarely ever do a fresh install and will put my os's speed against a fresh install any day, personaly I hate having to reinstall all my apps and make the settings and etc, but thats just me. they keep moving the fan's page, check the link again it should work. IF you are not using CCleaner, then start, it cleans your pc's temp folders/files and any other directory you ask it to clean, it also clean app's left over files also, like browser history and etc.
It has a build in uninstaller you can use to unistall apps, it has a section were you can edit the apps that startup with the pc, and it has a registry cleaner, but I always say leave your registry alone unless you are getting errors from it, all it takes is one time for the app to mess-up and one could be left having to reinstall OS, but ya use ccleaner and let it clean all those files. |

I USE EVIDENCE ELIMINATOR FOR THOSE TYPE THINGS , BUT THE APP EDITOR WOULD BE NICE , I WILL CHECK IT OUT . I ALSO HAVE HACKTHIS , BUT ITS HARD TO INTERPRET . MY TECH GUY GAVE IT TO ME , ITS EASY TO TELL IF YOU HAVE GARBAGE BUILDUP , DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT NOT SO EASY , YOU NEED TO GIVE FILE TO THE FORUMS AND HOPE THEY KNOW WHATS WHAT.

Glenn there are other ways to read hijackthis, if you know whats what.
I hope you don't think EVIDENCE ELIMINATOR really makes it impossible to retrieve those files, there are only a couple of ways to really do that. Hope everything goes your way but remember you gonna be waiting or the mobo fix till march/april. Our pleasure and good luck

waiting " mobo fix " means what ? ..also , not trying to hid anything its just a good cleaner . out of curiosity , how do you delete a file , since you say overwriting it 7 times in gibberish wont do it ... any links to hijackthis interpretations would be interesting to read . i can tell what most of it is, but there are many mysterious lines that come up on it that i cant find a link for interpreting or finding an app association.

The mobo fix is not due out till march/april here, so I'm not sure who mason is, but its got nothing to do with here, its not something you post, the sata 2.0 on all the sb mobos are faulty, and the fixed mobos will be here on march/april.
There is not link for me to give for hijackthis, as I interpret it myself. To make files unrecoverable, put hdd in teh oven, lol, or you need to zero out the sectors in the drive, or defrag few times a day for 3 months. |

very funny !
what kind of issue is it with the MB then , practically speaking , and you still recommend getting one ? the issue they were talking about was a double post from a cold startup . not exactly clear on that btw , as to the cause or effect .

Forget cold startup, thats no issue, the issue is listed here have a read and let me know if you need me to explain further, in short the sata 2.0 ports go bad after a while, and basically you are left with 4 sata ports, out of 8 or 10, ne mobo is needed to fix issue, the new ones arrive here march/april.
read about it here |
