My pair of 275s has been cruising right along running great till recently. I went from 60-100 fps in games to 3-30 but the average is lower. Ive had the pair about a year.

Ive updated the drivers.
I swapped them around and ran sli, no change, ran them solo no change.
Not sure what step I should take next, run a benchmark and see if that kills them completely or?

is it because your running different newer games or have you seen the performance drop in the same games?

If its the same games then check the connections and stuff. is the fan working? anything look weird? otherwise i guess you could try benchmarking to see if they really are just pretty much dead... is it both cards? did you recently have a power surge? just throwing out troubleshooting ideas. could it be the motherboard isn't giving enough bandwidth to the cards? (though i wouldn't know how to test that)

I thought it might be the mobo (not sure how to test it either besides normal performance checks), but now im not so sure cause ive tried both pci-e lanes solo and swapped the cards around to different lanes and ran the sli again no change. No power surge. Fans are working. Nothing seems wrong just a loss of fps.

can't hurt and after that i reccomend benchmarking. i mean if its dying its dying and theres nothing that will make it come back. benchmarking might make it die faster but it also might expose the flaws it has... just what i would do. plus its about time to upgrade anyway right?

I ordered a pair of 560 ti's from evga today! Drooling
Just trying to save at least one of these to up grade my brothers pc ( my old pc) which is running a 8800 gt, and currently getting more fps then me!Cry

I think ill just benchmark them to see if I can get them to crash completely.

My friend is letting me borrow one of his extra vid cards so I can have a "control" to test with.

My question is if I use his card and still see the low FPS,  could that either be the MoBo, CPU, RAM going bad? The benchmarking would let me know if the CPU was going correct?

This post might need to be moved to the Tech Forums.

**Update, I recieved my 2 560 ti's and installed them along with new drivers. My average FPS is higher, but is still spiking bad.
I havent had time to sit down and run any benchtest. I did have time to test 2 games during my lunch break, In World of Warcraft i was seeing anywhere from 2-120 fps in Stormwind. In World of Tanks I was seeing 5-50. It would run low then spike high and return to low.

So something is up and I pretty sure its not the video cards. Any thing you guys can think off that would help me narrow it down?

I ran Furmark for about a hour, nothing out of the normal max 200ish fps, low 2, average 150ish, gpu core temps stayed about 87/91 C under a load.

But in games my fps is still all spiky and low.

well it can't be happening that much since it didn't pull the average down that much... i think its just the nature of sli, it has low min fps and if something is wrong i have no clue what it is.

Its not the vid cards causing the spikes, low fps and lag. Something else is.

Im kinda at a loss now, Ive been reading and doing whats suggested in the self help portion of the tech forums.

Memtest looks fine, Stress testing the gpu's look fine. Its only when I go in game is where I see severe FPS drops and spikes with lagg. Not network lag im pinging 80-100ms.

The thing I havent checked yet is booting up the bios and dropping the OC, frankly im wary of doing that without someone walking me through it because of the bull in a china shop syndrome. I'm about to run Prime 95 and see if that flags something.

Nope, single player games as well,  Dragons Age was randomly crashing and not drawing all the art, pieces ingame would be black or incomplete and some lag also when viewing a movie when the play/stop bar auto disappears.

It seems it was the OC on the CPU i returned it to default setting in the bios and Im seeing a marked improvement in FPS, no more system lag or little quirks here and there.

This seem normal with the OC causing stability issues?

The oc is not stable, if that is the case then it can cause all kinds of issues, contact DS and let them know the oc was not stable and they will reset it for you.
