Hello everyone! I'm interested in buying an Aventum X system. (mainly because of the awesome case and liquid silo.) But now I'm wondering if I may have to hold off for a while longer.

I understand the Aventum III was the predecessor to the Aventum X system, and the X, itself, has been on market for quite a while.

Does anyone know if D.S is planning on a new iteration of the Aventum in the near future / year? Is it worth it to wait?

Cheers!

Ahhh, wouldn't we all want to know!

As to waiting, if you are not ready to pull the trigger right now or in the next 6 months, it would b worth the wait to see what hardware comes into the graphic's world.

My guess (and that's all it is, a guess) is that the Aventum X will be replaced eventually by some new iteration. Hard to say when, as the length of the X being offered so far makes me feel like DS likes where its at technically and sales-wise. However, I agree with hoserator, these things ultimately just come down to when you need/want a new PC and how soon you need it. If you need/want the Aventum now or soon, just get it and don't worry about new versions. If you can wait to that 6+ month mark as hoserator suggested and there's still no news of a new one, then you can reevaluate. Also, I understand the appeal, but try not to get too absorbed with DS's iterations. When I bought the Bolt I in 2013 it was before I even received the machine (back when shipping times were faster) that they announced the Bolt II. The point of that story is that my Bolt I is still running fine in 2022 (it's what I'm typing this on). So whether you act now, or wait, you're going to get a good machine. Strong

Wow, that thing looks crazy!

Out of curiosity, is this just an Aventum II or III model, or is it a highly custom order? If so, how did you request such?

When was this beast made?

Confession time...

You've found yourself in the middle of a running gag that I, and some forum rats (term of endearment), have been using for a number of years. The "Envy Green Aventum" meme is a mythical machine that Alex (head of Customer Service) is making me for free because I happened to volunteer one day (7 years ago) to moderate these forums. I don't have an Aventum and they're really not going to build one for free just because I happen to clear spam and adverts a few times a week.

The picture above is probably an Aventum II and it is orderable/buildable by DS but it would be exponentially out of my reach as a customer or even a volunteer.

But, one can dream, right?

Snaike,

Didn't Digital Storm send you a Commodore 64 they had laying around in back somewhere a couple years ago?

I just wasn't sure if it was a Commodore 64 , or an Atari 400 membrane keyboard setup upgraded from 512Kb to 640Kb so you can make a Virtual Disk to hold the OS.

Either way, you still got a classis system as a token of their sincere appreciation for your many years of volunteer moderating!

Wow, it does look good in green. Strong

That is an Aventum II with the front window off and 3 gpus. Back then you could even order a variety of colors and hardware combinations. A lot of candy to us addicts.

Since we've completely derailed this thread with absolutely no hope for restitution in sight, I'll present my favorite musical illustration on the passage of time:

And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

®1973 Pink Floyd (Waters, Gilmour, Mason, Wright)

To think that I got this album for my birthday two months after it was first released, and then think that it turns 50 next year, really drives this part of the track into my soul.

(Now admit it.. as soon as you saw "And you run, and you run" you started singing in your head, didn't you?!?)
