OK its time for a new rig.
I have a budget of $2000 to $2500. I am looking for something that will run flight simulators with ease and the highest graphics. (dont like watching my planes skip through the air ). Will also be playing some FPS. I have never had the power for photo editing so if i can fit that in the budget i might start doing that too. I will be using multiple monitors (2+) when using flight sim. Do not have the monitors yet either but planning on at least 20".Also if I can get a setup that is budgetless but not rediculous just out of curiosity. |

i dont know a ton about flight simulators, but ether the ODE 3 or this build: 606635
(http://www.digitalstormonline.com/comploadsaved.asp?id=606635) should give you maximum performance for your money. the custom build is more powerful than the ODE. its actually very similar to what i have (and love). if you need to cut some money on the custom build, start with the Intel SSD (you can easily add it later) and if you need to cut even more you can cut one of the graphics cards although since youre going to have two monitors i think itd be wise to have two cards. with the monitors we recommend Dell U2312HM 23" monitors (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04SP1&sku=320-2807) they are IPS panels which give you much better picture than a TN (standard monitor). wait until they go on sale (they do that alot). You picked a fantastic company for your computer! you wont be disapointed! good luck! |

Sneaky has a good build for you. I would consider getting WIN-7 Pro incase you want or need to add more memory. I would also go with the stage 2 OC. If this is getting out of your reach budget wise you might consider the ODE-3.

gaming on multiple monitors ur gonna want dual sli w/ the option to do tri sli, but thn again ur going to want to know for sure about ur monitors and their native resolution b4 building a comp this is the most important thing for basing ur gpu needs.
and if ur set on gaming on multiple monitors ur gonna want dual sli w/ option for tri sli and for tht ur gonna want to wait for the x79 platform wich is out in november Edited by Aka - 19 Oct 2011 at 5:44pm |

Every body has good info, but there is some info they did not know about, which is that fsx as far as I know does not utilize sli correctly, so for fsx a single 570 will do.
however many fps games do utilize sli correctly, so sli 570 will benefit, as mentioned for tri monitor you gonna want dual sli with option to go tri sli, however the budget is holding us at a point. so now the options due to budget are: for sli ode 3 (over budget) for single gpu ode 1. or third option, we customize a config that has one 570 but can support 2, and that will land us right around $2000, well I'm coming in around $2100, can teh budget be around $2100? |

Ok, I looked at the monitor mentioned and I have already ordered one with plans for 2 more in future. With one gpu can i run two screens? I have seen two ports on the back of some gpus. If that is the case then I will add others later. I do plan on getting BF3!! cant wait. As far as hard drive dont think i need a 120 SSD. Maybe a small one for OS and other important files. Another HDD for storage of less significant files and to be able to back both of those up because i dont have good luck with hard drives. As far as cooling.. is liquid cooling needed for OCed?

liquid cooling is not needed. its a luxury. you can have decent OCs on air.

you can do stage 2 oc with the a70 or noctua easy.
hdd setup is like this: HDD1 = fast small drive: os/apps/games HDD2 = regular large drive: media/personal/work file storage people with 80GB are running out of space, with just os/apps/games, so you should go with 120GB 320, also the smaller the ssd the slower it is then its bigger brothers. you can run 2 monitor with one gpu, but if you plan on gaming on them, you are not going to have great performance, as mentioned for 1900 x 1200 you want sli 570 for games like metro and bf3 and some newer games, with that res times 2 or 3 you gonna need more power then dual sli to max things out. you never replied to my previous post. |

OK I have been studying the forums a bit and came up with this...
Please fix anything that needs fixin. I also keep reading people should wait a month for something new to come out. Should I wait let me know? As far as the gpu goes can i get one for now and add others later or does it void anything by me adding/changing things inside? Thanks for all the input. Again if you are plaining on gaming on two or more monitors then you gonna want option of tri sli which means you have to wait for the x79 platform to come out next month.
if not gaming on more then 1 monitor, then your config is good, chagne psu to 1050hx. for ssd intel 320 has the best track record in reliability, I personally don't recommend the corsair ssd but DS stands behind them, so thats up to you. you can change and add whatever you like, of course the things you change/add no longer have DS warranty but your system's warranty is just fine, keep in mind tho its a 1 year part warranty. |

Ok then i am waiting for the x79 to come out then.
Maybe by then I can get all the gpu at the same time ![]() Yes I do plan on gaming on all three screens for flight sims (veiw panel on main screen and switch panel and gps etc on other 2 screens but for things like BF3 how would you be gaming on more than one of the screens at a time? Well looking forward to next month, then i'll be part of the team so to speak. |

well if you want gaming on all 3 monitors you are better off with 6970, eyefinity will give you that.

Is Nvidea surround vision the same as eyefinity or is eyefinity way better is why you recomended it? Curious if I should change gpu if that's the case but I just like Nvidea so much more.
I have never played or seen a game like BF played on more than one monitor. So if I have the screens side by side will it stretch the picture to fit or does it add peripherals to the two outside monitors? Reason I ask is because when I used my laptop for 2 screens I just dragged windows from FSX to the monitor for easier veiwing but BF doesnt have multiple windows to move around like FSX does. PS: I was looking around the forums and happened to find the address to DSO and I only live 2 hours away.. how cool would it be if I could go look around the shop?!? ![]() |

You can look around, you need to call them first.
I don't use surround or eyefinity so I can't tell you details. |
