I have an over clocked I7-920 (3.8) and three GTX275's. I can run Crysis at all medium settings without any glitches. If I run at all high, the game has problems with high action sequences. Screen is at 1920-1080 AW-2310. I have been out of the computer gaming scene for a while after purchasing a PS3. I missed computer gaming and that’s why I am back. Also my vaio desktop started having issues. Can anyone give me some pointers on what settings I should be running for smooth performance and best images? Also, what to do with AA. I recently ran 3DMark and received a P32000 (27000 GPU and 58000 CPU) and E72000 score. I read an earlier post about why the CPU score is so high compared to the GPU one but I don't know what they are talking about. Thanks

Also why does my screen turn fuzzy when I choose above 60Hz on the resolution screen with no programs running. My monitor goes up to 120Hz.

your CPU score is high on 3d mark vantage because in the benchmark you are using the GPU to perform the CPU test, hence illegal score, you need to disable PPU in the options to get a legal score.
you easily be able to run all setting maxed out except for aa, keep that down 2x to 4x will make a huge difference.
run your monitors native refresh rate. Edited by justin.kerr - 27 Feb 2010 at 3:46pm |

Ok with PPU off, 3DMark P26226(27487GPU,23053CPU). That doesn't look as good

My question would be why you buy a system in January of this year and get tri-sli GTX 275's. There are video cards out now that are much better bang for the buck. Then again it's your money.

I didn't look at what was going to be out. I am not a hardcore computer gammer. I was in the Navy for the last 9 years and computers were too hard to take on a submarine. I trusted that a bleeding edge company would offer bleeding edge components and I looked at just what they offered. After I built my system and ordered it, I look around and found that I should have done a lot more research. My parents had just passed away and I was trying to find something to keep my mind off of it and that is why I rushed. I will probably upgrade this fall if I think it would be worth it. I don't know how hard it would be with water cooling. |

26000 on vantage is decent for your setup, with 2 295's, so basically 4 275's, I did not try hard, just enough to be in the top 50 in the world, and at the time is was around 35400 to get there, think I could have made it a lot more, but it was the wifes rig, and she just wanted to be in the top 50. lol
3 275's were once in my Drunken Monkey build, nothing wrong with that setup.
like I said, make sure you have your settings in game setup right, I would imagine DS has the Nvidia control panel set up decent, so you should be good there, unless you messed with it. lol.
Crysis will run fine and smooth at highest settings, just don't crank uyp the AA, much, or at all.

I'm so sorry your parents passed away, Mallikii. You're in my thoughts and prayers. God bless.

@Mallikii,
Your system's performance is pretty high to be honest. (In addition of having PPU disabled). Crysis is known to be a system killer (even high-end ones) especially at high resolutions. In addition your running at 120Hz which is asking the computer to push the pixels twice as fast as 60Hz which also puts the system under stress. Try any other game and it will trip through it. |

Alex,
I am not running at 120Hz, infact I cannot get the screen to work in 120Hz or anything above 60Hz. It pixelizes (if thats a word) the entire screen. Any thoughts. Brand new display.

Just to let everyone know. With 120 Hz monitors you need a Dual-Link DVI cable. I read many forums about this and they all said it was a gimmick and a waste of money. This is not true because while the cable can handle faster speeds than it claims, the data transferred from the video card is split into two parts at the same speed as original but twice the data width. When it comes together again it effectively double the speed of a single DVI cable and your monitor is looking for data that isn't there. So, learn from me and get one or see if it comes with your monitor. Mallikii |

just to be clear, he is talking about a single cable that is called dual link dvi, and not 2 separate dvi cables, for 30" monitors you will need the same thing.

Thank you DST4ME. It is one cable but the cable has more pins then a standard not dual-link cable. That is what I was trying to get at. Mallikii
