I'm looking for some help too on my first config, I've been planning on getting a new PC for some time, and I also have some questions too.

I'm not too good with computers, so, any advice is greatly appreciated.

These are my questions. I haven't seen this on the site yet, but is there tax on DS' computers? And is shipping to places on the East Coast of the US free?

This is the Config number, 169911, again, I'm not too sure on if I'm building it correctly for what I'm aiming for. I want a computer around $2000, give or take a hundred, that I can use for games like Oblivion, Spore, and other titles that take either high end or medium quality graphics.

I'm not too sure what my monitor size will be, it all depends on how much I make during the summer, and how much my computer costs, so, let's just say I'll continue using my 19" LCD monitor.

Sales tax applies to any purchase made from a state where DSO has a physical presense. I am not sure about the state of New York, they seem to be testing the limits of the US Constitution right now with their sales tax law. You can get the low down on that from DSO.

Standard ground shipping within the continental United States is included in the purchase price. There is no addtional fee unless you wish to upgrade the shipping option used.

Here's a configuration you can really build up from down the road:

I took out the keyboard, speakers and the antivirus in your original configuration. You can get the keyboard and speakers locally. I would recommend ESET Security Suite over McAffee.

I changed out the graphics cards too. The cards you had selected are very out of date. A 9600GT will perform as well, if not better than a G80 based 8800GTS 640MB.

With the configuration I linked, you will be able to Crossfire second card if you like later on, say after a monitor upgrade. For reference, a crossfired pair of HD4850's will run Oblivion on a 22" Monitor at max settings with 4xAA, and 16xAF enabled at about 68 FPS. A single 4850 will run the same settings at little over 40 FPS. For comparison's sake, a single (G80) 8800GTS will also give you about 40FPS.... but without any anti aliasing enabled.

Welcome man,

If you live on the east coast, like myself. You should think about upgrading to the shipping crate. It's a couple hundred more but a week in a ups truck crossing the country helped my decision to go with it. The cost of the rate covers any shipping. The only extra shipping you do cover is for things like a monitor, keyboards and mouse and speakers. I ordered all of the above and shipping was only $40.76 to Massachusetts.

 Good Luck and have fun.

I have read on these posts about a few problems, You cant blame DS for them! I have read about some connection being unplugged, screws coming out and even one instance of a dent. Again you can not blame DS. If a problem does happen they are more then happy too help you out. Since my "Beula" is coming from so far away, Across country from California to Massachusetts, I went the custom crate for shipping. Nothing being sent by mail is fool proof. I am sure DS is insured There is always the chance of damage. When my baby comes in I will set her up and post a complete review with pics. of the crate and boxes I will be receiving. I ordered a monitor, speakers, keyboard  and mouse so I am guessing I will get at least 3 - 4 pieces. I am expecting ship date to be early next week and arriving the first week of August. I will make a post called "My Beula is here" or something to that nature. Her name will be in the post so keep an eye out,
