before that, what is your max resolution of the monitor ?

you dont have to change the monitor, it's all personal choice.
Really depends. for me ? yes i would, but then again I'd get the new asus one for 700.00
but not everyone is me,
 
so it's really up to you, depending on your max resolution you should change your gpu.
for example if you're only gaming in 1280x1024
you won't be able to tell a difference between gpu choice of 5870 vs 5850 vs gtx 460 vs etc.
and they are in difference class.
 
so let us know what max resolution your monitor holds and what max resolution you want to play on.
