Hey guys. Can't wait to hear your advice on a few things I am wondering about.

Now on to my question.
 
1. Do you guys think I would benefit more if I ran the Extreme Edition CPU rather then running Dual 580's?
 
Feel free to point out any flaws in this build please.

ironically, all the nerds are out on the wkends lol, but

on a more serious note, not a whole lot of poeple comment on laptop builds .

but here's my 2 cents....

2x580, you probably won't encounter many games that'll need that. So you won't be using it to the full potential for 1-2 yrs, and yet you've spent the money. So I'd think the CPU may be better upgrade

I'd say having dual 580s is more practical than having the i7-980X. You can't really use the 980X to it's full potential in a laptop.

Now...I've been poking around, and some people are arguing that some SB laptop processors are on par with the older i7s when it comes to default specs.

With that in mind...never mind, i just noticed that Sager never made a notebook that has SB and SLI. You could go three ways then, get a better value processor and stick with one GTX 580M, get an old generation processor that's still fast but is going to be outdated before 4 months time with SLI'd 580Ms, or wait for the next generation i7 replacement and get Sager's SLI model with dual 580Ms or maybe 680Ms.

Also a couple of things on your build specifically
- Get a second hard drive if you're getting a 17" laptop, it can be annoying to work with the limited space of one SSD.
- BFN card, some would argue that it's a waste, but in terms of the wireless card here, I support it.

@ Darbebo. My reason for 2 580's is Battlefield 3. I like to play games at max settings with all the goodies turned on. Im just guessing its going to take something like 2 580's to do that with BF3.
 
@ Ablahblah. Thanks for the info! I didn't put much thought into the BFN card, it just came default with that build. As for a second hard drive..Im pretty much a gamer so only thing that will be on the PC is the OS and a few games..but I see your point.
