Yes the ultrasharp IPS panels are great ones, but wait till it goes on sale, they go on sale all the time.

I think the ViewSonic VX2753mh-LED is best gaming monitor for you. It has a 1920x1080, Full HD resolution,1ms response time; along with HDMI, DVI and VGA inputs, this makes it ideal to connect to one of the latest high-definition gaming consoles. ViewSonic has clearly targeted this monitor at gamers on a budget.

1. response time is a bs number, its there to fool you and does not represent the true response time of the monitor, there is no real way of truly finding what response time is, the closest to it is white to white but you don't see that, you see grey to grey or black to black cause they give small numbers to fool users but they don't mean anything, there are different methods to get these numbers also, and each will give a different number as results, therefore you can even compare one to the other, cause we don't know what method was used for which, and even if we did, still GTG or BTB don't mean anything.
2. contrast ratio is also bs number. Most important thing about a monitor is its panel, right now there are 2 major ones, TN and IPS, IPS has superior picture quality/clarity. that viewsonic is a tn panel, if you had an ultrasharp IPS panel trust me when I tell you that you would not be recommending that monitor Edited by DST4ME - 25 Sep 2011 at 5:28am |

Okhi,
Just to follow up what you said about the Viewsonic. I just got a Viewsonic 27 inch monitor (1920x1080, 3 ms response time) that only had DVI (no HDMI or VGA, which i wasn't interested in) and I must say I am impressed by it. I ordered mine for $269 on Amazon, and the comparable IPS monitor I was looking at (U2412M) was selling for $340 even though it was only 24 inches compared to 27. So to me, I feel like I got a better value with the TN panel and I couldn't be happier with it. So it might be worth it to check out both a TN & IPS panel before buying one or the other to find out which one you like better.

I don't know why you guys keep mentioning response time, I just said it in my last post, response is a bs number, also IPS has a better image clarity and quality, if you had the u24 next to your view sonic, you would pic the u24.
I too highly recommend you go and find an actual dell u24/u23 to look at next to a tn panel so your choice an be made very easy and you come home and order the dell on line to save money. I will tell you guys this, you won't find one ultrasharp IPS owner that will say they prefer tn panel over their ips. Also you can't say a tn panel is comparable, that like saying I was looking at a diamond for $360 but then I found a comparable Sapphire for $269, the Sapphire was bigger and cost less. So you can't compare an ips panel to a tn panel like that, cause you are pretty much dismissing everything Ips brings to the table, better picture, more clear picture, more color resulting in great color quality, better processor resulting in quality picture, 178° viewing angle, I don't see how a tn panel that can't do any of that is comparable. I'm not saying your monitor is not good, I'm saying you can't say its anything like an IPS monitor, its not, the picture/movie/video/game is much more better on the ips monitor to the point where it jumps out at you and demands your attention.
