Hey guys, im fairly new to the forums, in need of a new gaming pc, mine has recently been dying lol, so rather than repair it, i've decided to go for a new one.

My friend Fearnot (thats his forum name i believe) has told me about DS and how they have amazing customization and good customer service. Now hopefully hes right lol and from what i've read in the reviews it does seem to be amazing.

Anyways, i will be using this PC for games such as MW2, and WoW, and thats pretty much it, and of course music while im playing. Just for gaming specificly no photoshop or anything lol. One thing that i like in customized PC's is the added accessories. Example is that mine has like 15 LED Fans in it. so on top of a Gaming PC im also looking for a "cool" PC as well lol.

Now i do have a pretty good knowledge base of the componets put into a PC. But not the best with making a PC. Think Fearnot customized my current one for me lol.

Any help on the subject is greatly apreciated , at work atm so I can't post my native resolution but will do so once i get home. As for my budget, I currently have $12,000 that i've been saving up for the past 4 years for this PC. Hoping DS is the right place to go :)

Sorry for the long post, felt like i should kinda introduce why im here lol, look forward to hearing from you guys!

EDIT:
Monitor is Dell UltraSharp 3007WFP-HC 30-inch WideScreen
Max Resolution : 2560 x 1600

Hope that helps lol

If your budget is 12k and you intend to spend it all, you can always get DST4ME's computer which has enough lights on it to doubles as a XMAS tree.

lol ben

well if you mostly play wow it doesn't support crossfire or sli.

i can tell you a top notch gaming computer wont cost 12k.... even a 8k one would probably be overkill for what you need. you will probably be anything from the 3k-6k mark depending on if you choose certain things like ssd, LC, Blue ray, certain GPUs, if you would like i can create a few for you. i can do air or LC.

When I first found out about Digital storm, I looked at the work stations (i.e. protus, etc).  The max out in terms of costs came to around $20,000.  I wonder whether or not that would make for the ultimate gaming machine?   I did a quick configuration;

Chassis Model: Digital Storm PROTUS
Exterior Finish: - EXOTIC StormWhite High-Gloss Automotive Paint Finish (HailStorm Chassis Only)
Processor: 2x Dual (Intel Xeon W5580 3.20GHz (Nehalem EP Quad Core) (8MB Cache)
Motherboard: Intel Workstation Board S5520SCR (Chipset: Intel 5520) (Supports Quad-Core and Six-Core CPUs)
System Memory: 24GB DDR3 1333MHz (ECC Based) Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (2GBx12 Config)
Power Supply: 1000W Digital Storm Certified (Dual/Triple/Quad SLI Compatible) (Silent Edition Highly Recommended)
Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (1.5TB Seagate Barracuda (7200 RPM) (32MB Cache) (SATA) (Extreme Speed)
Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: 1x (1.5TB Seagate Barracuda (7200 RPM) (32MB Cache) (SATA) (Extreme Speed)
Optical Drive 1: Blu-Ray Player/DVD Writer (Play Blu-Ray and Burn DVDs)
Video Card: NVIDIA PNY Quadro CX 1.5GB (Outputs: DVI, DisplayPort, Stereo)
Add-on Card: Blackmagic Design HD Intensity Pro (Inputs: 2x HDMI, Component, S-Video, RCA)
Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio
Extreme Cooling: H20: Stage 6: Sub-Zero LCS Dual Loop: CPU & Quad SLI/CrossFire Video Cards & Chipset
H20 Stage 6 Water Additive:  Ludicrous Speed Unicorn blood (digital storm certified) (spaceballs recommended)

Here is a speed test some company performed on the product;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mk7VWcuVOf0

I would caution you though, if you go with ludicrous speed unicorn blood, you run the danger of going plaid. (note: this is not serious in any way).  Honestly, I would agree that $8k is more than a fair amount for a decent black ops system.

well i didn't see the edit.... go for eitehr for the bottom 2 i did. you now need a lot more horse power then what i gave you. i configed for 1900 x 1200 for 2560 x 1900 you need double ie the bottom 2 builds.

if you want air on the nvidia build (# 2) u need to scratch the 3x sli mobo for a evga LE and put stage 2 air cooler. also change case to HAF 932. otherwise everything is perfect

if you want air on ATI build (# 2) just change to noctua stage 1. also case to HAF 932. otherwise everything is perfect

If you want something different, don't get the freaking HAF.
you want a good build, but also the cool look, you are going to need to have a special order on the case.
A danger Den double wide, can be a very good case, with tons of potential, if you can live with a acrylic case.
here is one slightly customized, it is empty here, but I do have pics with it filled with goodies if you want to see.

for all out look at mountain mods.

For CPU with this budget go 980x
go with the Classified MOBO
2 or 3 GTX 480's
min of an Intel 160 SSD for main, and games, then a 1TB for storage, might want to look at two Intels in RAID 0
Custom fans, custom lighting, with custom paint....

980x would be nice but you won't notice a difference from it in current games, but if you want to change the cpu to it go ahead, it is a nice cpu and in everything else it will make a nice difference.

Thank you all for the build posts, and for your advice, really appreciated

Now i kind of like the builds posted except there are some problems with them i see right away, and probably my fault for not stating what i was looking for,

I do have the budget to go with a 980x CPU as Justin.kerr said so i would end up going with that instead of a 920 or 930

I'll definitly be going Classified MOBO
And i was planning on using the 3 GTX 480's atm,  I am aware that WoW doe not support crossfire or SLI, however I want to use the PC for say 4 yrs, thats usually when i start getting a new one. So im upgrading now rather than down the road. (also chances are that I will get in other games that do support crossfire / SLI ) The only  problem with using GTX 480's would be the heat, and im guessing that would be Stage 6 LC
As far as SSD goes, I am aware of them , and I have been planning on getting an Intel one, most likely above 200 and was thinking of 1.5TB for storage just because of my large music library (3000 Deathmetal songs = win) btw thats just deathmetal genre rofl

@VideCorSpoon, thank you for the build config, but a workstation PC would not function that great as a gaming PC , atleast as far as i've read / heard. Now I could be very wrong about this, will have to do further research lol

Now like i stated in my first post, I am all about cool looks pretty much, now Justin, thank you very much for the links, I do like the cases alot, and have no problem with acrylic at all lol, my question is, would i be able to get that case and have DS assemble my PC with that case? Im guessing I would have to call someone or email someone about that? Don't get me wrong I do like DS' cases, but its not exactly the "Wow factor" for me i guess lol and yes i do liek to show off my gaming rig to people lol just ask Fearnot XD

DS allows you the flexibility to use whatever parts you want, if you tell them to, so yeah, you should be able to use a Mountain Mod.

you can order whatever case you like, if its not the config page it will just cost more but you can get whatever you like.

WOW does support SLI. SLI is hardware, and it works, does not scale the best but it does work, and there is plenty of help online to get SLI and also to enable more CPU threads.
If you don't mind acrylic cases, that danger den double wide is very nice, and will cool a monster build like you are talking about, no case here can really do it, without loud fans, plus all internal radiators are a much cleaner look.
I can post some very nice mountain mod builds if you would like, so that you can see them also. The mountain mods offers more flexibility, and will be able to hold whatever Power supplies, up to 4 of them, motherboards, HDD's GPU's that may come out in the future.. but they are a bit more, but around $200.. more than the top case offered here.

OH ya forgot to say it, justin got it, we have been thru this before, I made the same mistake, even tho wow's tech say it does not support sli, it does, but it has no need for the power of sli, which is why you don't see a difference with or without it.

ah , ok, guess i should have done more digging on the whole WoW SLI thing lol

DST4ME i do like your builds Ouch  i am an accessorie kind of guy but some things can be kept out as i will have no use for them Ouch but i can change that easy ! :D and your right i could add a card later if needed too :P I think i'll end up looking further at your builds :)

Justin, if you could post those mountain mod build links it would be greatly appreciated :) cost isn't a big issue for me atm, i mean if i save money thats great :) but if i spend all of the 12k i don't mind , since i had it specificly set aside for this :)

if you have a budget of even 10K I would go mountain mod, and see what Digital Storm can do for air brushing. there are a lot of talented people that would love to paint a theme on a big box like that.. If you can think of the theme the artist can really make a dream come true..

just pick something you can live with, because a case like that will last you a lifetime, never be obsolete, one of the very few things in this industry that will last. That is why I have several mountain mod cases.  Also why I have not painted my main gaming case. lol maybe for Drunken Monkey 6. Embarrassed

so been looking cases, and currently have a Ascension - CYO as my favourite so far (now if this is even possible I have no idea lol, sent a message to MM with my questions :P)

Ascension - CYO :
Material - Aluminum 5052
Thickness - 1.65mm-3.25mm
Dimensions - 24x18x18 inches
Power Supplies - 2-4 optional ports
HD Bay - 2 sets of 120mm HD brackets - Holds 6 out of box
5.25 Bay - 2 x Removable
5.25 Devices - Holds 6 or 10. MB Tray - Removable
Acrylic Color : Clear
Back Panel Fan Spacing : 15mm
Back Panel Type : Quad (http://www.mountainmods.com/ascension-cyo-choose-your-own-pi-483.html?fID=2)
Finish : Mirror Black
Front Panel Fan Spacing : 15mm
Front Panel Type : Trinity (http://www.mountainmods.com/ascension-cyo-choose-your-own-pi-483.html?fID=1)
Motherboard Tray : HTPX (EVGA SR-2)
Side Panel 1 : Triple Quad (http://www.mountainmods.com/ascension-cyo-choose-your-own-pi-483.html?fID=3)

One thing im a little concerned about is if the motherboard tray will work with DS' motherboards Big%20smile

But we'll see lol
anyways back to research!

DS does not have its own mobos, they use retail parts, parts you can go to the store and buy yourself.

Damn nice, LED's will look sick, what colour you looking for? you gunna get some cathode also?

For LC if your looking to custom order some things maybe check out frozencpu

and nope used 8 of our attempts on LK already, saving the rest for tmr, gunna be a 15hr session maybe. so gave everyone the night off, they might still run 10mans or something, i'll most likely be on too

What the hell are you doing on now ? lol, should you be working on the DMZ

yea yea yea im going im going was on break lol
been here for 20hrs so

only 8? thought you guys were hardcore ROFL but nice of you to give them a break :P think that 40hr session you did was overkill you getting them to take tmr off or you just gunna start at your usual time then go till next morning?

might make a post in hardware about what parts would be better , we'll see, if i ever get out of here lol

eh I have 9 people that have booked it off (my 10grp) if others take tmr off from work then i'll ask everyone to phone in sick lol, (half of the guild is sponsored now so when i say tell them to phone in sick i mean like 2 people lol, ) don't know if Effx will be on tho , which might be a problem lol. if you wanted you could come instead if shes gone, i have no problem with it. will mostly likely start at usual time then go till 9 am.

yea only used 8 because i wanted to review some good attempt logs to compare to other guilds, will help provide a better strat then.

Anyways i'll stop flooding this thread with my WoW talk lol
Post back if you would like to come
