I picked all the possible parts for a super fast comp. Is there something wrong with overkill?

Nothing wrong with it, its encouraged for the most part.  It is an awful lot of money though, but you get what you pay for I suppose.

DDR3 mobo's should be out within the next month, assuming you want SLI the 790 should be out by the end of the month I believe.

As far as I've seen their's no real difference between DDR2/DDR3, although alot of programs/games have yet to even make any stride to use the DDR3 ram as the default.

Personally I wouldn't go DDR3. By 2009-10 DDR5, Windows 7, and whatever GPU/CPU's will be available.

And does the motherboard even have enough slots/room for all those cards?

You won't be able to fit all that stuff on one board.

Yep, there isn't enough slots to house all those cards.

You only have space for two cards (between network, physics, or sound). You can request a pci-e 1x ati tv wonder 650 card.

I meant for the newer ones ie X48/790.

Also you don't have to use a PCI slot for a tuner anymore.

just seems to me that theres overkill and theres being silly
you could get the same power for half that cost, i mean are you acually going to use

Over a TB of HD space

no, unless your going to take over the world or download the internet

Optical Drive 1: BLU-RAY/DVD±R/RW/CD-R/RW (BLU-RAY / DVD Writer 18x / CD-Writer 48x)
Optical Drive 2: DVD±R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 20x / CD-Writer 48x) (LightScribe Edition)

The first drive is a waste, no one uses bluray and the second one, for a fraction of a cost does all the useful things and adds a cool bonus

Network Card: Bigfoot Killer Network Card (Features MaxFPS and UltimatePing Technology)

unless you are tunneling T3 its unlikely youd see a change from onboard internet speed

Video Card: 3x SLI Triple (nVidia GeForce 8800ULTRA 768MB (By: eVGA) (PCI-Express)

I would personally guess that youd have to have at least a 3200x2400 res to see ANY amount of change over 2 ultras

Physics Card: Ageia PhysX P1 128MB

have you ever seen a game or program that asks for or suggests this?

Case Lighting: Green Edition
Round Cables: Red Edition

jingle bells? was that on intentional?

Benchmarking: 3D Mark 2006 Advanced Edition (By: Futuremark) (Pre-Install and apply updates)

your getting everything overclocked anyway, unless you were planning to refine DSO's choices i dont see a need for this either

LCD Display: Samsung 24 inch (Widescreen) (Black) (High-Performance Gaming Display)

I'd have to say im shocked that someone ready to drop 12k on a computer doesnt have the best monitor around already

Obviously the build is completely up to you, I guess im just shocked by the fact that you seem more happy to spend $12,500 when you could get the same for $7400

oh yea, +150 for tv tuner

just post the link to the set up number, like this
makes things much faster

ok when i picked all that i ended up at $7703

in any case, my personal refinements would be
if it were me, i would:
drop the physics card
go to 320GBx2 / raid 0 ( i bet you never fill up one )
go down to the ultra case
drop to 32 bit windows
go to 2gb ram @ 1250

use the extra cash to add up to 9 total optional fans on the Ultra case
I think you could bring the PSU down a step if you make those changes, not sure

Your revised setup is much better. I would drop the physics card though, also you really dont need 2 lightscribe drives. Get one and then for the second one get a normal burner.

What I am looking at it your dual loop liquid system.. I have been kicking around the idea of rerouting my own to incorporate that. (although I am not having heat issues, it would be nice to have em seperate)

Some folks DO need over a terabyte of HDD space. If you do video editing/record tv space can become short really fast! Even with all the space my own has I got an external 500 gig!

Trust me when I tell you, you wont really be prepared the first time you see it... pics dont do the paint justice...its amazing. Oh.... and its BIG!

You should understand that they wont build that overnight... it is WELL WORTH the wait.
