My budget is 1500-1600. And will be using my tv as a monitor with hopefully an hdmi setup.
I want to do mostly gaming And i really want it to just play WoW on ultra at 60+ fps and sc2 and perhaps diablo 3 not much else. I have a dusty room and it has to be very quiet and not a very big system a mid tower or less.. |

Me personally id go with this and just call up and ask them to fill all the open spots with some quieter fans. The reason i did not add the zalman fans is because they are loud from what i've heard.

That looks good, do you think going to 6 or 8 gigs would help some?

if your only playing games no, but if you any kind of multitasking or video editing/sound editing it could help. If this is strictly a gaming machine its not going to make a difference. If you had some extra coin though some more ram would prob be what i would add. |

as mentioned above it won't help that much.
instead i'd invest that money into ssd.
Originally I had my wow installed on my 600GB veloci
moved it over to my ssd since i raid0 mine, didn't notice that much at first.
but when i got on my gf's computer that is on a wd black. I noticed the difference

I honestly use the load screens as an excuse haha i was looking at an sd drive for the boot time reduction but this computer apparently now will be shared with my girlfriend and she tends to multibox and watch youtube whilst playing wow or such.
Another question is can you guys recommend a good UPS? i live in an area that tends to have random power blinks and freak storms and that was my biggest fear on my last computer... |

sorry i'm an idiot.
Actually I've never had to buy one of those YET. so i wouldn't know from first hand experience. But I'm sure someone will suggest one.
I'd say you wouldnt need it, but then again I'm only right 5% of my life

I figure i should protect this investment quite a bit and i've read a bit on them but i would like first hand account. I live in arkansas so we get some pretty bad freak storms and brownouts.

APC all the way, IMO.
If not, 2nd choice is Tripp Lite. No matter what you still want to unplug when a T-Storm is right on top of you, nothing is going to protect your PC if it is plugged into the wall if you get a near strike.
Also make sure to buy a big enough UPS to handle your gear. To figure out how much UPS you need you want to multiply the amp draw of each machine(monitor, PC, etc) by the voltage (since you are in the USA it is 120) and this will give you the VA mininum you should buy.

I think i might have to just go for one of the larger ones and hope it works. My budget has been expanded to 1700 so i am going with 8 gigs of ram hopefully it will make my girflriend happy

If you are refering to the UPS issue, you can go to the manufacturer website and they have a calculator that tell them what items you want to plug in and how long you want them to run on battery power and they will tell you which model to get. You only really need the PC and Monitor plugged in to the battery side, everything else can go into surge outlets on the back of the UPS.

Due to the monitor being a tv i figure i'd need a large one to begin with.

That really depends on a bunch of things. Like I have a 37" HD Flatscreen Samsung, it only pulls 140 Watts. That is more than 5 times what your PC can pull. |
