Upgrading ram is easy.  Just get 2x8gb sticks and replace the ones you have.  They just plug in.  Be sure to get DDR4 and you can use a site like Crucial to scan your pc and give you compatible recommendations.

8GB of Ram is plenty for most tasks but is easily upgraded. Some of the newer AAA titles use 16 but you will likely hit a Graphics bottleneck on a 1050 before a ram bottleneck. Game of choice?

Then yeah you want more ram but that is also more CPU intense.
