What I am looking for is something from Digital Storm that can do the job mentioned above. I already have the Aventum 2 and for some reason I am really addicted to the bolt -- so I was wondering if the BoltII could do the job. If not - what do you think would?

Thanks in advance. BPratt. I know you are lurking out there with my answers. :D

The latest Haswell Devil's Canyon cpu is worth the wait for a couple of weeks.  Its basically the Haswell 4770k but with a higher base and Turbo clock by a healthy 500mhz and better TIM, meaning the thermal interface  material they now use lets the chip run cooler with higher overclock.  That's the story and we'll see for sure when DS gets their hands on them.

The Bolt can take 1xHDD and 2x SSD, or 4x SSD or 2X HDD.  I put in the SSD and a 4TB HDD.   Your pick of course.

The choice was between the gtx 780Ti 3GB and the Titan Black 6GB card.   You didn't mention the monitor but the 780ti will play and work great on a single 1920x1080 with no problem.  Higher res means a sli setup if you want Max gaming and high frames.  Same for the Titan.  I'm not up on WOW, but even on a 2560x1600 it should do well, unless you get into heavily populated.

If you need sli, then that's a whole different rig.    Basically this setup in an Air 540 case and sli Titan or sli 780Ti and larger full size mobo and 1000watt psu

The other card is the Titan Black.  It games about the same as the 780ti but has more vram if you want 4K gaming.  It also has double floating point precision for CAD, Modeling work, etc where the much longer decimal string is desired for calculations, precicion, etc.  The longer string can use the added vram, which is really why the Titan has it.     Titan vs 780ti depends on your level CAD, and the monitor.

That's it, see what you think and keep us posted.  Big%20Smile

Hey hey!

Looks good to me, I'll get a hold of the guy and make sure this will meet his engineering needs. Thanks for the heads up on the processor upcoming.
