Well, I know that the time for upgrading will be here within the year, and am looking into a complete new rig, I've had my old one for about 5 years, got it through a local company but they've gone out of business and have been researching all the custom built computer sites and stores, and really am glad I stumbled upon Digital Storm. Every comment about Digital Storm's computers, and or customer support, even when the comment might not be positive to begin with, always seems to be resolved with the customer ending up being content. So I've decided to build a test rig, and see how it looks for now, and for the coming months (I won't be buying for another couple months because I'm pretty sure my computer can still handle the newer games coming out, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it!) pick away at it until I find the perfect one for me. So I just wanted to see what type of input everyone has, from the community and the Digital Storm force. Thanks in advance.

What do you plan on doing and what is your budget?

A physics card is useless.

change the ram to at least 800mhz

future sli?

from the spec sizes of all the cases i'd assume either getting a step up case wise or getting stage 2 cooling would be a smart idea.
Pro case with extra fan
Quad Q6600 2.4 OC'd 3.1!
Nvidia 8800GT
Asus Maximus Formula Mobo
2xgb 800mhz corsair

I've been debating about the case ever since I first posted and was wondering if an Ultra Case might be the way to go, but then again, maybe I can stick with the stage 2 cooling and be OK. RAM was definitely needing an upgrade, thanks for catching that, can't believe I didn't see that, and I always thought physics cards added just a little something extra? And this machine is going to be for gaming, especially for the next gen games like Crysis, and BIA:HH, and I'm beginning programming and a little bit of work with graphics, then mostly just work and such. Can spend up to $3,000 but don't want to go too much over that, and if I can keep it cost low that would be an extra.

Beautiful rig for under $2500 that will last you at least 2-3 years before you have to start upgrading.

Only thing I would consider changing is the ram to 1066mhz for another $384, or getting 4gb at 800mhz for another $156.

I take it you have a Monitor/OS/Etc already?

Drop the Physics card -$216, bump up to 800mhz ram +$56, and go with the 640Mb 8800GTS +$106, and go with Stage 3 w/Twister Boost +$74. If my math is right it will only cost you $20 more and be a smoke'n system.

My 2 cents

8800 gts 640mb is a waste of money, go with the GTX.

Ya I already got a vista home premium, good gaming monitor, G5 mouse, etc. will just need the tower when I do upgrade. Hmm, well I know the RAM is def. already upgraded to the 800 mhz in my books, and upgrading everything else sounds pretty damn good.

I wouldn't call any 8800 series a waste of money. I was thinking New to DS was working with a budget in mind, thats why I recommended that card.

My bad, I failed to notice the 3 grand budget, skip the GTX get the Ultra.
