Hi! I got some really good advice a few months ago and decided to wait until the new graphics cards are out - now that they are here I'd like some advice on what is the best build for my needs.. Budget: About $3000 Expectations: I currently own a Q9550 with a GTX 260. So yeah its high-time I get a new computer. I just bought 2 Dell U3011s which I run on this system... I play my games in 2560x1600 on one of my screens with the other to have the web open and such. I'm mainly playing Diablo 3 and WoW right now but I will play some other stuff - I just finished playing Skyrim so I have variety. Surprisingly I can run these games at ok settings on this beast of a monitor - but I want to be able to get full usage of my monitor and maybe in the future buy a 3rd dell and go crazy on full 3 screens I'd really like your suggestions on what would be the best for me so I don't make any mistake and buy stuff I don't need or overkill it. I mainly surf the web and play games. Thanks for your time everyone!! |

Config # 694710 Cost $ 2723 Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Cooler Master 942 HAF X Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 3770K 3.50 GHz (Unlocked CPU) (Quad Core) (Requires Z77 Motherboard) Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V DELUXE (Intel Z77 Chipset) (Higher Overclocks and Unique Wi-Fi Features) System Memory: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 1050W Corsair Pro Silver 1050HX (Dual/Triple/Quad SLI Compatible) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (1TB Western Digital/Seagate/Hitachi/Samsung (7200 RPM) (32MB Cache) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 2x SLI Dual (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 2GB (Includes PhysX) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 2: Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 Extreme Performance H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: - No Thanks Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks LaserMark: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Stage 2: Overclock CPU 4.5GHz to 4.8GHz (Requires Pro/Deluxe/Sabertooth Motherboard) Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows 7 CD) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Game: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: FREE: Digital Storm T-Shirt - Black (Large) Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 10-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty The HafX case is the best for air cooled systems and the Z77 mobo and i7-3770k chip will work great with the stage 2 overclocking added. The D14 cpu air cooler will keep the cpu safe with the oc and is very reliable. 8GB of ram is all gaming needs. The 1050 HX psu is a bit more than the sli gtx 670 need but does give you headroom for the future and for when psu's drop a bit in efficiency with age. The sli, 2x gtx 670 on a single 30" monitor will max out some games like Skyrim and high settings for like BF3 and Metro and play on medium to high settings if you gamed on two monitors. You mentioned maybe gaming on 3 monitors? That would require another card and a different setup with different mobo, etc for lots more than your budget, if you wanted to play on high settings. Otherwise medium , depending on the game, would be needed to stay at 60fps. It's all about what settings and fps make you happy. Another gtx670, the 4GB vram version for another $100 a piece, have just been added that might help with your higher 2560x 1600 resolution. Actually for your budget I should've plugged them in but that's an easy fix Gaming on a single 30" monitor for me would be the ideal experience, but your call as always. Another option is if you wanted a SSD for faster load times and stay below $3000 or so, you could drop the cpu to i5-3570k and put it toward the SSD for drive 1 and keep HDD in drive 2. Just another way to go. Hope this helps and good luck. Edited by bprat22 - 01 Jun 2012 at 9:34am |
