Why am I getting higher gflops with hyperthreading off?

These are the same overclock just one has HT on and the other HT off.  I also have snapshots off linx 100 passes showing the same thing.

I found this discussion but no realy answer on why exactly. http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=304846

Intel Burn test seems to not be a very good indicator of Gflops. It will vari a lot. And also some apps love hyperthreading, others don't lol

When benchmarking it is sometimes nigtht and day difference in scores turning HT off, or having HT on.. Just matters the program.

Justin this is was actually LinX I did the tests with.  Is that the same as well; bad at gflop indication?

So I know you have said that with windows 7 you would always enable HT  However all I ever do I game and surf the web.  Is HT still useful or would gaming alone benefit from HT off?  The couple sites I saw seemed to indicate most games HT can hurt or doesn't matter.

And lol this could be tottally psychosomatic but games (COD series) seem to be smoother to me w/ HT off.

So for me should I still enable HT?

Linx is a program that uses the Intel Burn test registries, algorithms, so same thing basically.

HT on with windows 7, no question about it.

I don't know if this is interesting to anyone or not but I have done more testing with HT on/off and when I ran cinebench it was indeed very much faster with hyperthreading on which was to be expected I guess.

Also, although I was still well within intel spec I found I could drop my vcore on both  HT on and off I am now at 1.13750 vcore with 166 bus and 21 multi.  Think I can try dropping it further?

I wonder if in my case since linx doesn't support hyperthreading then my 1333 memory might be further bottlenecking it?

not really, too many variables, when you hit over 100 Gflops, then you are doing decent.

So your saying to not compare linx scores with other people because it fluctuates that much?  I will try the link you sent as well.
