You select "Like" for DS to become a fan then you have to select "Like" for the contest in order to be entered. For businesses and stuff you "Like" the page for the business it's self to become it's "fan" instead of it's "friend". Liking the business will generate postings on your News Feed just like updates from your friends.

Frank, while I agree that it does remove from the running those people who don't wish to have a Facebook account, I feel that its still an overwhelmingly fair contest. Consider those contests that not only require a Facebook "Like" but also registering for a forum, following on twitter, taking a picture of a box, and entering a phone number (And yes I am citing a specific contest by a competitor which I won't name), all for something less than an entire computer. These contests are really about spreading a company's image, and in that sense, I think Digital Storm has been very noninvasive thus far, which I appreciate. Though again, I do understand your point. |

I wasn't thinking it was unfair. Nothing is stopping me from joining Facebook but me. I am sure this comes out of DS's advertising budget and for what ever reason they want to expand hits on Facebook. I bet this forum brings in far more customers than Facebook? Frank |

My bet would be the same as yours, I'm always surprised at how many members the forum actually has. Most of them never post, or only do a few times, but I'd say a large portion of them are exploring the forum as they consider the purchase (as most of us once did). Granted, they have more "Fans" on Facebook than they do forum members, especially once you factor in bots, but I'd still surmise that as far as follow-through is concerned the forum does more for sales than Facebook. Of course in the age of Tweets, social networks are prime (free) advertising.
