Well god bless my wife for trying to keep this a surprise but she went and built me a DS computer.I'm currently deployed right know and not realizing that i would notice that a payment has been made that i would know what shes up to.So here is what she came up with considering she doesn't know to much about computers,i'm happy with what she came up with.
Chassis:DS 1050si Exterior finish:standard Interior finish:Standard Trim accessories:standard Processor:Intel i7 940 2.93 ghz Motherboard:evga x58 3x sli system memory:6 gb ddr3 1600 mhz corsair dominator dhx power supply:1000w corsair card reader:internal digital media card reader hard drive set 1:1x(1tb western digital) optical drive:dvd r/rw-cd r/rw internet access:linksys wireless n 300 mbps video card:1x nvidia geforce gtx 295 1.79 gb sound cards:creative labs x-fi titanium fatal1ty champion extreme cooling:H2O stage 3 high performance system for cpu and video card internal lighting:green liquid color:green cassis airflow:upgrade chassis with zalman performance fans cpu boost:yes graphics boost:yes memory boost:yes windows home premium vista (for enthusiasts)(64 bit) restore kit:digital storm specialized recovery system lcd display:22 in acer keyboard:razer lycosa game keyboard mouse:razor deathadder gaming mouse total 4704.00 300.00 discount new total 4404.00 Now i'm excited that she did this and cant wait to come home and actually get to play on it,hopefully she won't get to mad if im on quite a bit,but i think i might have changed a couple things.Of course my model would have been a little on the higher side so its actually a good thing that she was the one that did it.I only have a couple questions on the boost of the cpu, graphics, and memory about what would the increase be,and would there be room for upgrades in that type of case, and the power should be enough for future upgrades? |

oh thank god, thats why I was asking
could have saved some money by going with a 920, 1333MHz of ram and a 500GB HDD, drop oc on the gpu, ram and don't tweak windows, chaissis fan upgrade also is pretty much a waste for you. thank you for your service Edited by DST4ME - 24 Mar 2009 at 7:48pm |

well asked wife for the ticket # she has no idea what im talking about tried to see if i could find it but i couldn't.Yea i wasnt to sure she should have oc'd the gpu,and ram i really didn't know that could be done is it going to be any difference? She didn't tweak the windows and for the hard drive it wasnt really an issue for me.Overall i think she did ok like i said if it was me i would only have changed a couple things but it would have been alot more money.

the gpu we can oc if you needed it, which I doubt but its real easy to do, nothing like cpu.
and the ram you won't notice the difference much, so drop that too other then that you are good |

looking at around 3.8GHz
crap I just noticed, drop the LC from gpu total waste and could be headache, no LC on gpu. LC the cpu and OC the cpu only, nothing else needs LC or OC. Edited by DST4ME - 25 Mar 2009 at 7:52pm |

you got a 940, at this point you would be wasting your money to go with a 965 save that money and when vertex 2 comes out, get that and use that as HDD1, its has crazy speeds

Trust me, I don't donate my time to just any company, let along to this extent, but when I see a diamond, I think we should all benefit from it, DS is a great company

DS has an A+ BBS rating. I think you just saw a little of why the rest of us went with them. I am extremely happy with my beast. I monitor both Cyberpower and DS. The service before and after the sale is what convinced me to go with DS.
Just wait until your dream machine arrives. You will be able to experience totally immersive gaming that is very difficult to explain. It seems so real that sometimes it feels like you are truly part of the game that you are playing.
You are very lucky to have a wife that is capable of making a technical analysis of the many systems builders and deciding on what many of us feel is the very best of the best.
Spend some time reading the reviews and you will see the kind of enjoyable experience that you will be having soon. Just remember to take pictures before you totally immerse yourself into the gaming.
By the way, I am an Army veteran that spend 6 years in the service. I am very proud of you and the service that you have given to your country. I am proud that my son also spend 6 years in the Army and my daughter spend 6 years in the Air Force. I just got back from a trip to Branson, MO and the performers made a point to ask veterans to stand up to be recognized during some interaction with the audience. It made me feel very good! I was a little surprised to see how few of the people in the audience actually were veterans. It is one thing to talk about service to your country versus actually putting yourself in harm's way.
I am very happy to welcome you to the Digital Storm forum and again you have my upmost respect in serving your country during these difficult times!!!

Yes god bless wives. When I served during the Gulf War in 90' - 91' my wife was a great support to me while I was away. It is not easy for them either. Enjoy that machine you have earned it.

well thank you all for your support,my time here is almost done then its home to the wife and kids and my new ds system which unfortunately will b there way before i get there, the rig is at stage 5 so im pretty excited.i told my wife to take it out of the box and hook everything up to make sure everything works then put everything back in the box till i get home.i know sounds a little immature but hey im a big kid and i want to be the one who gets to open my present.i also have her taking photos of the rig so i will post a review of the system as is then will update it when i get home.

I have to be honest. Do you know how hard it would be to take the beast out of the box and awaken it just to put it back. Most people would be in gaming heaven once the dream machine fired up and it takes an intervention team to get some people off the computer to go to work or just get back to normal living functions like eating or sleeping.
Good Luck!!
