I heard NAV 2009 has been dramatically improved. You should try that.

HM superantispyware will not get ride of everything and its not the best anti spyware out there.
@Lucysmith, the best and lightest av out there that you can trust is eset nod32 go here and try it for free for 30 days |

those stuff only make you think you are covered, as one of our members found out.
thinking you are secure and actually being secure are 2 different things on vista 64 bit all you need to be safe is eset security suite and spysweeper. nothing else can touch that combo in speed, quality and security. Edited by DST4ME - 06 Oct 2008 at 3:57pm |

i use avast along with spybot S&D and havnt had any issues in 3-4 years. It aslo really depends on what you download if you know what files are coming from what sites etc. youll almost never get viruses.

have you checked your system with spyweeper to be sure? cause I can tell you right now spybot does not catch every thing.
I'm telling you guys that use adaware and spybot, you guys are enjoying a false sense of secuirty, I'm not saying your systems are infected, I'm just saying some of you may have some stuff you don't want. only one way to find out, double check with spysweeper they offer a free scan |

I know you have even told me that HM norton and mcafee bog the system down....but i have always had mcafee even on my single core pentium from dell..and it really only bogged down the system when it was scanning it..other than that it ran in the background quite unnoticed..and its running sweet on my duo core now..and now even the scanning isnt a problem..the only draw back to mcafee is that it isnt free..there are lots of free things like the ones HM has mentioned that do a great job too...

i have found no anti spyware catches everything..but as long as you dont have a 64 bit system spywaredoctor seems to catch the most...(their software not compatible with 64 bits..sorry to say ..or it would be running on my puter now.) ps ...i have found staying away from porn a big help too..lmao

My point is that you got all those processes slowing down your PC, when they are not needed or necessary.
try nod32's free trial for a month, after a month tell me you still want mcafee you don't know what the difference is till you try, I used to be a mcafee customer myself, so I know both sides as a matter of fact I was pro customer. |

OK WM, I'm sure all of us are dreaming
we have tried both and from that we know. you have not, yet you say we are dreaming. however the actual facts, scanning time, boot-up time and etc, which are real facts, tell a different story then what you are saying. NP boss, enjoy all those processes. Edited by DST4ME - 11 Oct 2008 at 4:33pm |

Mcafee really does slow down your computer... Just like Norton. Your computer may seem fast with it running, but it would be a lot faster without it. Not only is it a resource hog, but it's not even a very good antivirus program in my opinion anyway. I've used many different ones and Mcafee is at the bottom.

No I just like to use my resoruces (ram, cpu, processes) for my apps and stuff instead of giving it to norton or mcafee, I didn't pay for a quad core and 4GB of ram just so mcafee could use it, I paid money so that the apps I want could use it. Once again I'm sure all of us are wrong and you are right. I think you are mistaken to think the difference in scan and boot and such between mcafee and nod32 has anything to do with system specs. On the same exact PC, nod32 can scan faster, boot faster, everything is faster, and lighter, nod32 has 2 processes only. Edited by DST4ME - 11 Oct 2008 at 5:00pm |

I'm sorry chris this is not my opinion, perhaps if you ask somebody that has nod32 you will see that.
you have not pointed out what part of my post was an attack? and here you go: with all due respect, its not fair for you to say that something I'm saying is my opinion, just because you have not had the chance to test it for yourself. as you see TL and clinton both agree, so its not just me saying it. please show me where the attack is in my firt response:
to which he responded with:
and you are saying I'm attacking people?????????? Edited by DST4ME - 11 Oct 2008 at 5:16pm |

i personally dont care what you have to say dst4me..i didnt take it as an attack ..i just consider the source..believe what you want..my system has always ran fine with mcafee..and if it is bogged down so to speak..i have never noticed..so its really a non issue with me..the only person that was making a big deal out of it all was you.. dst4me..and following your posts..it seems most things are..oh well such is life..its just something else that i really dont give a hoot about...

*calls dso to check up on dual loop cooling solution not keeping the temps low*
*wonders about having liquid go through two radiators before cooling down the cpu*
Speaking of which, is this a possibility?

[sarcasm] Well, it appears we cannot seem to keep Digital Storm's forums temperatures down to stable levels without overheating components, just a few days ago Alex installed a liquid cooling solution, and it just cant keep up. So i was wondering if we can install a second radiator and have the liquid go through it and THEN to our overheating components.
[sarcasm off]
What i was asking is: they offer one loop for CPU, and dual loops for CPU + GPU, but could they install two radiators just for cooling down the liquid for CPU only? Weird question but got me interested. Edited by Nomak - 12 Oct 2008 at 10:55am |

the temps in teh forum are down, alex's liquid cooling is working great. as for dual loop for cpu only? i'm sure if you ask they can work something out but I'm also sure they will tell you that it not needed, as one radiator will cool the liquid down just fine |
