I'm in need of a site that allows you to upload large files, at least 1GB, and has unlimited storage. Please post any suggestion please

Unfortunately I know of no free site with 1GB per-file upload limits, perhaps someone else can offer some suggestions though!

I think Microsoft gives 25Gbs of free space on their Windows Live SlyDrive. I don't know what it takes to join if anything.

Free SkyDrive is 7GB of space (Used to be 25). However you cannot upload 1GB+ files, its limited to 300mb, least through the browser, I'm not sure about the desktop uploader.

Google Drive allows you to use 5GB for free. However, if you didn't mind needing to download files in an obscure manner, you could always just get an account with a web hosting company and just upload the files there. Also, if you use GMail, you can get create a draft email with the file attached, and then you can download the file anytime, although you cannot send it if it is over 25MB.
