Hi Nebidimka    That rig is right on in my opinion.

The quad channel X79 mobo will handle the3D rendering and the sli gtx670 will play nice with that resolution.

I would go with stage 1 ovrclocking at least.   The 3930k chip and D14 cooler are made for it.

One major blunder... no free t-shirt.

Congrats and keep us updated.

Nebidimka, I've been contemplating on a first time build with water cooling. All the PC's I've owned in the past have been air cooled. I would like to hear your thoughts on why you are going back to an air cooled system after owning a water cooled system.

Hi JerryW,

I also went from a fully liquid cooled system to an air cooled system using the HAF X case and the Noctua NH-D14 cooler.  For me is was just a matter of getting the most performance I could while staying within my budget.  I still ended up spending more than I anticiptated.

If it is in your budget liquid cooling is great.  If you do go with LC I would get the quick disconnects and the drain plugs.

Just my thoughts.

Budget and easy of selling/upgrading. Selling because computer parts sell faster than assembled computer, and it's a bit harder to disassemble liquid cooling+DSO does not provide video card air coolers which makes selling video cards a bit harder too. Same goes for upgrading, hard to disassemble and assemble, one of my fans died (on the radiator) and I had to switch it, I needed to unscrew the whole radiator first and be careful with tubing.
HOWEVER, the overclocking potential is insane as well as the "wow" factor, also you can use the pump, tubing and reservoir for future systems (waterblocks change, sadly)

Guys, I have a few more questions.
What should I add for haf x case?  I've read that it needs some additional fans for better performance.
Is it worth swapping Sabertooth for the Rampage Extreme one (the red asus x79 board)

You probably don't need any extra fans on the HafX , but if you want to then the top where there is a 200mm stock can also accomodate another 200mm fan for total of two on top.   CoolerMaster MegaFlow 200 Silent non-led fan... about $ 30 unless they use a different one lately.

The Rampage mobo is if you want to do your own overclocking or want quad sli setup, 4 x video card.    There are other features that you could check out and compare on their websites, but generally that's the difference.  You did mention doing oc yourself so that might be the better way.   Rampage makes it easier.

The Rampage board is fantastic for overclocking. As for additonal fans, a lot of people like to add a 200mm fan on the top, but that's up to you.
