It basically took a week and a half from order to delivery from CA to OH, the build process was quick!
The box was huge, looks like the packaging method was different than the video shown with expanding foam. It's some elastic plastic like ones I've used to ship laptops with. Got my cool T-shirt with someones blonde hair on it Here it is in all it's glory! I am very disappointed in the placement of the red cathode tube, I have no idea why he installed it up and behind the motherboard, 75% of the light is blocked and you barely see it at night. The cable management is "okay" and some is sloppy, some of the wires are pinched so tight with zip ties I am concerned that it might break later on. The cables/wires are putting a lot of pressure on the side case panel, I know it's bulging out. I had to search out myself to see where my fan controller was hooked up to which fan, it would've been nice if they included a note. I have to say I was very excited to get it today, but some of my enthusiasm has died down - I guess I just assumed perfection... Edited by armoredsaint - 17 Apr 2013 at 8:14pm |

@armoredsaint,
Thank you for taking the time to post your review. After reviewing your review, that's definitely not how we want our customers to enjoy their system. I am sorry, and to make myself feel better, I would be very happy if we could have the system come in for service and have our team re-build it for you. We will cover all shipping costs and treat it as a priority. Please send me an email: [email protected] when you get a chance. |

P.S.
I've sent a copy of your review to all of Upper Management to ensure this does not occur for future customers. Mistakes or situations can always occur as a business grows and adds new employees, but, that's not an excuse and we always want to learn from situations to perfect the business for our customers. |

Alex - thank you very much for the offer. Do you know what the turn around might be?
I will say Richard at your tech support was awesome, very impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. Also when I turn it on or do a restart, it has a loud beep/quick chirp - is that normal? Edited by armoredsaint - 17 Apr 2013 at 9:52pm |

now i know it's not just me then - yeah it's a lot worse if you see it in person, plus on the other side with the window cut-out, the wiring is quite bad too |

@armoredsaint,
Thank you for the quick reply. It just does not live up to the quality myself and our team takes pride in, which is why we would like to take care of this for you. We'll do our best to turn it around in 1-2 days once it arrives to our facility. Shipping will take 3-5 days each way. The beep when you re-start or start the computer is normal. |

I'll be checking tomorrow (Upper Management will look into it anyways), but, I doubt it happened in shipping.

I don't think it can move considering how tight the zip ties are on the wires, my major concerns is all the 180 degree kinks in some of the cables. Plus who know what's going on with wiring I can't see behind the case wall and mobo. Last night it was having issues reading one of my hard drives, so sad... |

Just noticed that I am missing the side fan shroud or however you call it? It's not in my left-over parts either.

I believe we don't install them because they get in the way of many graphic cards when we install the foam materials (depending if you have a heavy graphics card).
It's not something that really does much to help with temps, but, if you would like, we can include it in the packaging for you? |

My HAF-X has its fan shroud. Though I have never tested the temps without it. Or course, the GPU bracket was also not used in my build, so that might have been why they stuck the shroud on.

I didn't get a shroud either. But there is a GPU bracket and the manual says to use one or the other. It doesn't appear to me that there would be any room for a shroud, too many power connections to the GPUs.

I also ordered 2 1/2 years ago, so DS very likely has changed their setup for the 942 since then.

It's going to be frustrating not having my "new" computer for the next couple of weeks - since I use it in my home office for work also. Now it's back to my crappy HP Elitebook laptop for now.
I am trying to be optimisitic that everything will be corrected. And I discovered this morning one of SATA cable connectors which is supposed to be 6GB was plugged into a 3GB port and vice versa...no wonder my other SSD (Cruical M4) was slow compared to the Samsung Pro 840 when I ran Crystal Disk Mark Edited by armoredsaint - 21 Apr 2013 at 7:11am |

On many boards, the SATA III ports (SATA 6Gb/s) don't have the better performance than the SATA II (SATA 3Gb/s) ports in random 4K reads and writes and IOPS which will actually improve real world overall performance.
Usually the only time you'll see SATA III ports do better are in sequential benchmarks. If you would like to ensure we have your SSD on the SATA III port (SATA 6Gb/s), we definitely can. But, I believe you're not going to be sending the SSD with the system right? |

Maybe I used the wrong one with Crystal? I used the Seq for read and write and it went from 232 read/155 write to 444read /170 write when it was connected to the correct SATA port. But I noticed the cabling is white connectors for the 6gb and the 3gb is all black, plus iirc it said 6gb on the white cable connectors.
You're correct, I don't fell comfortable sending my SSD and HDD in since it has personal info and naked pictures Edited by armoredsaint - 21 Apr 2013 at 12:10pm |

i just need to get used to the corsair k90 and m65. Edited by armoredsaint - 21 Apr 2013 at 12:14pm |
