First of all im getting dual sli Asus GTX570 Direct Cut 2. I think it would be a waste if i don overclock it since they have 2 fans which really can handle OC. Second is rams, I'm getting corsair low profile vengeance 1600mhz 2x4GB. Would it be good to OC the rams? processor is going 4.5ghz i7-2600k(bottleneck issues).
The question is what settings should i OC it to for my dual SLI GPUs and also my dual channel RAMS? I know that CPUs will suffer if the core voltage is over 1.4v. Does that applies to rams and gpus too? What is the maximum voltage for rams and gpus? What other aspects should i look too for maximum optimization? Thanks |

1. You are wasting your money on dc2.
2. there is no need to oc the gpus since you don't need the extra power, you putting stress on your gpus and they will die sooner. 3. even with a good oc, you looking at gaining maybe 4 or 5 fps, which as I mentioned is not need or is going to be noticed. 4. ocing ram is a bad idea, you have nothing but headache to gain. |

In Australia i cant find any stock version of evga gtx570. Only the HD versions and asus dc2. some other brands are more expensive so i choose from this 2.

Both are bad idea icheck, the dc2 is just a waste of money and pci lanes for no reason, and the hd is a bad idea as it pumps heat into the case on top of that the hd you mentioned is a superclocked, which we don't recommend oced gpus at all, no point and they will die faster.
you know new gpus are coming out in jan-feb right? |

should i wait for the cards to out? Cause i have heard from the past that this year the 500 series did came out early but there are not enough stock for the consumers to buy. I would say i will only have the chance to buy 1 when it reach april or may.

I would wait, spending money on dc2 and hd are really a waste comparing to new gpus or stock 570s.

Im getting a z68 mobo with integrated graphics. So what you recommend me is to use the integrated graphics and wait for the 600 series? i don have a spare graphics card. The system is for gaming actually, but i can wait ,which i have been for the past 5 months. From working for the budget to finally able to buy one and now need to wait again lol. I think i really don have luck with games haha. But its fine, i can wait. There is one problem. Can i watch movies or do any other visual programs(besides games) with the integrated graphics?

What if the new 600 series when put on dual sli must need 16x/16x and is not compatible with my mobo which is 8x/8x?

I would wait for new gpus, but thats just me, 2 more months is worth the wait for better performance.
I doubt for the next 2 or 3 years if single gpu cards will need x16, they would have to be twice as powerful as current 580 to do that I think, and with pci 3.0 that should not be a problem not that it will happen anytime soon anyways. Edited by DST4ME - 12 Dec 2011 at 11:36am |

Thats an idea but when you think for your money (be it for you or your brother) you can get a more power gpu in 2 months, I think waiting is best option tho its your money and your situation so you know best

There is a problem here. I've just install my 8gb rams into my system and it is not running at 1600mhz but is 1333mhz. Can anyone tell me what is going on? Corsair Vengeance Low profile black pc3-12800 8GB C9 dual channel.

Check your Bios. Could be defaulted to 1333 and you need to tell it different. Check your mobo manual. Usually in bios, advanced, speed select itself or memory freguency. Best to check the manual, different strokes for different boards.
Good luck Edited by bprat22 - 10 Jan 2012 at 2:46pm |

Yep, like bprat22 your RAM is just running at its "stock" speed, you can increase it up to 1600Mhz in the BIOS.
