I Just overclocked my 8800 Ultra 768MB card from 612 / 1510 / 1080 to a crappy 677 / 1672 / 1100 (which runs stable but hits 96C). On my benchmark (can only get Call of Juarez DX10 Benchmark to run properly) I got these results

Baseline:
Run       Min     Max     Avg
  1         20.5    91.7     39.1
  2         20.8    91.5     39
  3         20.8    91.7     39.1

OC'd:
Run       Min     Max     Avg
  1         21.2    98.8     40.7
  2         21.6    98.8     41.8
  3         21.9    98.8     41.9

Settings were
res 1024x768
shadowmap 1024x1024
shadow quality 3
super sampling off
multisampling on (x2)

So the question is should I keep the OC (which runs hot as hell when I pressure it) or dump it for stock clock? Also the benchmark only took my temp to 90C.

Two frames per second certainly isn't much. You'll never notice that during gameplay. I would just run at the standard speed in this case. However, maybe other games will perform differently, in which case the OC might help.

Id run it stock, the gains don't justify the risk of burning out your gpu..

I had the same feelings with the OC of the card. I didn't know if DX10 stuff was just that way or not.
Baseline 3DMark05 Score 19411 (with x10 cpu multi)
OC 3DMark05 Score 20688 (with x11 cpu multi)

(I converted the 3dr file to zip and opened result.xml and read the 3DMark Score)

fps per follows
            Baseline          OC
GT1      74.92               79.06
GT2      55.69               59.71
GT3      112.19             120.05

CPU Score: Baseline / 19087    OC / 17825
             Baseline          OC
CT1        12.29              11.44
CT2        13.17              12.34
