Just finished playing BF2 for 2 1/2 hrs, On the ode3 res at 1920x1080 and was wondering if these temps are where they should be. Do the rest of the numbers look ok. Don't want to fry anything. thanks pos

Temps are ok. But the fan is set to be more quiet then effective. I recommend downloading mail afterburner and setting a custom fan profile.

Downloaded the afterburner, How do I go about making changes without messing anything up. I never messed with this stuff before. What should the settings be set at. pos

Well you got a problem, you are gaming and putting the gpus under stress but then you are showing us only one gpu's temps, we need to see both gpu's temps, games dont' max out the cpu much so looking at cpu temps after gaming does not mean much.

Here are the temps from playing BF2 for only about 20 minutes. Have to run some errands will play more later. Starting to worry about all this.

The max graphics card temp is fine this time. Did you edit the fan profile? And so is cpu.
Btw Dst what is cputin? Bc its insanely high. but it actually looks like the sensor on it is broken since it didn't change at all. Edited by maxyme - 25 Sep 2011 at 10:39am |

yea thats fine. but i would tweak it for sound so it doesn't idle at 50% becuase anything from 60 and up is definately load but you don't want to idle at so high speeds because its just annoying to hear. so i would put a point at (0,0)

actually yes it does, if hes only gaming which as we all know doesnt put alot of stress on the cpu and hes hitting mid 70's hes got a problem and or his ambient temps are way high. Either way if he ran prime or linx i wouldnt be surprised to see his cpu temps go north of 80-90C |

What I meant rice is that if you for example run linx or fah smp, those temps would be higher, and those are the ones we need to see so that we can see the max temps he is hitting and if we are right and he is above 85c he needs to figure out the problem.
I also want him and others get into the habbit of stressing the cpu with a cpu intensive app, like linx, fah smp, intelburn, and then look at cpu temps, or stress the gpus with something gpu intensive and then look at gpu temps. Lately we are seeing lot of people stress the cpu and look and the gpu temps or vise versa. At the end his game temps are not what he wants to be judging his cpu max temps by, he needs to know for sure if max is above or below 85c and for this game temps don't mean much. surely you know that I too know that his game temps can tell people like me and you there is a problem, which is why I asked him to stress the cpu with cpu intensive app. rice you should really try and run the fah gpu client from my post, let it fold one work unit (WU), let me look at your settings before you do, after you finish one, then tell me if you have seen temps that high on the gpus before. @pos, in your first pic I see max gpu temp at 85c, and cpu temps at 70c, how come in your second pic the numbers are so much lower? in the second pic was hw running when you had the cpu and gpu under stress? if yes with what?

He needs to put his system under stress with proper apps once and for all and see what is going on.
what he is doing is not giving him the real info. |

Here are the numbers from the prime95 test. Ran it for 30 to 40 min. Are these numbers alright. Thank you guys for your input. Temp in room was at 74degrees.

@ rice follow my fah guide here
pos can you also run the fan, the smp is for cpu, run that first and let it finish a work unit. then we get to gpus. your temps with prime are ok but you need to run it longer, with fah its simple, you are done when the work unit is done at 100%. Edited by DST4ME - 26 Sep 2011 at 6:18pm |

looks like you let them run for only 21 minutes, let the smp get to 100%.
I see your temps on teh gpu are high, 89c and 90c. let do this, only run smp first, let it finish(get to 100%) and then lets see what the cpu temps are, after that we will do gpus separately, your use is probably not gonna be that stressful but its good to know what your system can handle. as for your own use, keep an eye out when gaming on the max temp, you don't want to see anything above 85c. |

DST4ME, Hey guy. Will run the smp friday, I am off. Should I do the gpu after that or wait until you see the smp test first. gpu #1. 56c, fan 1950rpm, gpu #2. 40c, fan 1770 at idle right now. room temp 78 deg. Is there a easy way to increase the fan speeds to help cooling. thanks pos

If you have set your fan profile then you are good.
forget idle temps. ya run smp once its completed then run gpus and have them complete to 100%. if you want to manually adjust your fan, afterburner has it right in its first window. |

i would set the fan profile to look something like this. This works the best for me because i have it set to level off the fan percent increase as its getting a bit loud. This is good enough to keep both cards in the mid 60's C during most gaming.

why idle at 40% isn't 40% loud as hell? With my card the max rpm is 6000rpm. 40% would be 2500rpm which is like loud as hell. mine idles at 20% and 50 celcius. 100% is like as loud as an airplane btw (for mine) lol |

dont you have a ati card? the 500 series(almost sure most other nvidia cards do to) idles at 40% and its almost inaudible. 40% is the lowest you can go, you must have a ati card or are missing something.

yea i figured as much being that the loudest thing in my case when the fans are at 40% are my case fans lol. The fans on the 500 series dont really get loud until around 70% or so. |
