1) does the 4870X2 need 1 or 2 PCI slots? I can't seem to find a definitive answer.

2) For running nvidia cards in SLI mode, do the 2 cards have to be by the same manufacturer? Can you have one on a PCI-e and one on a PCI normal and still run SLI?

If you're worried about space for a soundcard then don't worry, you can have 2 4870X2's on the Rampage II and still have a free slot for a soundcard or other card.

It would be easier if you just tell us what case you are referring to Wacko.

I think you got the height and width mixed up only 10cm tall?

The 4870X2 is 10.5" (26 cm) long.

I'm not sure the tower make, but it is 16.61" x 15.51" x 7.00".

Do you pretty much need liquid cooling to run the 4870 X2? or does it depend on who makes the card? how can you tell if your system has room (?) for liquid cooling?

Thanks, guys. I was just worried because I looked on Newegg at the SAPPHIRE 100251SR Radeon HD 4870 X2 and people are saying it is extremely hot. Is it just that brand?

Only get LC if you want to get more performance from OCing or you are concerned about noise.

keep in mind that noise is a matter of perception, what I think is noisy might not be noisy to you and vice versa.

Ahh, thanks.

Does this card run natively in Crossfire mode or is that only if 2 of them are used?

Will a normal motherboard work or is some Crossfire support needed to take full advantage of the card?
