So I have noticed that in some games when I move left to right pixles get distorted even when im getting 90fps. would adding another card help this problem or is it because I am using a hd tv for my monitor that is 32inches.

I'm not very knowledgable with hardware issues but your problem shouldnt be that your using one video card. I doubt adding another would fix the problem, however it may be more of a problem with the one card that you are using

Just found this someone else had similar problems.i just bought a gtx280 from xfx , the XXX version. I runs smoothley but the shadows in games look REALLY AWFUL. the "stair" effect is very visible. The edges of the shadows are like BIG stairs, like squares. I set everything to high or very high, but it's the same no mather what i do.
My question is this: is the gtx280 really that crappy or is it just mine to have that problem?? The graphics are great appart from the shadows. My issue is not with the shadows but with environmental objects. Most of the posts after this thing that it is the games and not the card. Edited by XpubuX - 17 Nov 2008 at 2:47pm |

what resolution are you pushing? also your hd tv is not the best panel for gaming from a pc.
I think skyR knows more about it, so if you want details you can ask him. |

1360X768 also the games im noticing this in are warhammer and cod5 I think the aa in cod5 goes up to 4x and warhammer to 8x. I do not have this problem when running 16xaa in other games. Your right about hd tv not being the best when I run vantage I can only watch the gpu tests the rest say invalid format but still run.

Could you post screenshots of the issues you are describing?
Graphic distortion is usually caused by overheating GPU or vsync. I'm not sure about your description of shadow quality. |

So I tryed taking screen shots but when I do it fixes the problem. The problem is mostley in the Zombie cod5 level when looking at the bars and moving back and forth they look like steps. When I stand still they look fine. I am not having the shadow issue that I mentioned that was someone else just seemed similar. my gpu hits a max of 71C after gours of play.

It definately sounds like your monitor. Tons of people here have 280s and I haven't seen anyone else post similar issues.
HDTVs typically have a slow pixel response time compared with computer monitors, so when you move around things can blur and distort because the pixels don't change colors quickly enough.
The easiest way to be sure would be to borrow a friends monitor to see if that solves it.
