Topic: GTX 260 and 260 core 216 question?Posted: 26 Jul 2009 at 12:23am |

Hello, I have a few questions I was messing around with a configuration and noticed that they had a clearance on two GTX 260's.. They also had one GTX 260 but it was 216 cores. The regular, i guess you can say, GTX 260 was cheaper (in price) than the 216 cores. The regular (without the clearance) ones were also cheaper without the clearance. So basically i was wondering what the difference was between the regular and the 216 cores? Is it a significant difference? Also... I am planning on getting a 24 in screen with 1920x1080 or 1920x1200 resolution. So i'm wondering what graphic card, or cards, would be good enough to play games like crysis on high settings without going to high on the price. Would two gtx 260, regular or 216, be good enough? I appreciate the help in advance, I'm trying to become a little more knowledgeable of everything before buying a rig. :) |

the difference is that the core216 has better peformance/fps, a game like crysis is not going to be played on high settings with any card at 1900 x 1200.
other games tho sli 260 should be good enough at 1900 x 1200 |

DST4ME, I beg to differ. I get ~20 fps (which in Crysis looks like ~30 fps due to motion blur) with my single 260 core 198 at 1900x1200 on VERY HIGH. Now granted I've overclocked the thing like crazy, but it IS possible.

I'm talking about clean, crisp, sharp experience of 60fps.

Eh, 30 fps is good enough for me, particularly in Crysis. And I'm the type of guy that can tell a noticeable difference between 55 and 60 fps.
But like I said, I was running Very High at that, I have no doubt I could get 50-60 on High, which is what he said. |

You can use 2x AA, AF doesn't work with Crysis, at least not if you use POM, which is greater than AF imo.

AA is pointless in Crysis, use the EdgeAA=4 command in the .cfg, and it doesn't take any performance. xD
